Operation Christmas Child brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world through gift-filled shoe boxes and the message of God’s unconditional love. Samaritan's Purse Canada is the Canadian arm of an international Christian organization that has been providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world since 1970. Samaritan's Purse has helped meet the needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God's love through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Description
Through Operation Christmas Child, Canadians have the privilege of filling empty shoe boxes with school supplies, toys, hygiene items, and a personal note. Each shoe box gift from Canada is then given to a child in need in Latin America, West Africa, and Haiti. When culturally appropriate, an illustrated Bible storybook is offered to children in their local language (children do not have to accept the book in order to receive a shoe box gift). When possible, children can further explore the love of Jesus Christ through a voluntary Bible study program called "The Greatest Journey." Since 1993, more than 100 million shoe boxes have been packed, shipped, and delivered to children across the globe.
