Description

Through our various programs and services, we provide homeless and at-risk youth with the resources they need to thrive in the community. Our morning drop-in is open to anyone between the ages of 16-25 and provides access to breakfast, various types of counseling and emergency services, clothing and hygiene products, and computer and phone services. Our drop-in is open 8am-12pm Monday to Friday. The Job Action Centre employs eight youth for a twelve week period and provides job-training and career skills with the goal of finding full time work or enrolling in school upon completion. JAC teaches skills such as resume building, job searching, cold-calling, interview techniques and much more. Youth are employed Monday-Friday from 9am-3pm. HealthMatters is our after-hours health and recreation program that runs Wednesday to Saturday from 4-8pm. Youth participate in various recreational programs and have the opportunity to learn about healthy eating and living techniques. BottleWorks employs up to three youth per twelve week rotation and is a bottle pick-up and recycling service for various restaurants and bars around Ottawa. BottleWorks operates Monday-Friday from 9am-3pm. BeadWorks is our social enterprise work opportunity for youth and involves creating and selling various pieces of jewellery. Upon completion, jewellery is sold in our BeadWorks store on location at 150 Gloucester St. Our store is open to the general public and is open Monday-Friday from 12pm-6pm. The Rogers Achievement Centre is the only in-house education program that provides an unconventional learning environment. Partnered with Lester B. Pearson High School and the Ottawa Catholic School Board, students are able to earn high school credits and diplomas, write and study for their G.E.D., and find assistance in applying for college or university. The Rogers Achievement Centre runs Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm. HousingWorks assists youth in finding and maintaining permanent housing. There is full social support and when a permanent residence is found and secured OCH is able to match the youth and provide last month's rent. HousingWorks has no maximum on applicants and runs during OCH hours (no set time). Operation Come Home runs the only national reunite program that reunites runaway youth with their families. We travel youth from all across Canada to any Canadian destination.
