Description
We are the Ottawa Chapter of the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors - Ontario (CIQS - Ontario). From a functional standpoint, we are supposed to help promote the professional status of Quantity Surveyors in Ottawa; collaborate with other professionals and organizations in the construction industry; and offer support to college and university students and local members in training. The active members are seasoned and highly experienced professionals in both the consulting and construction disciplines (those that have been there and done it all) that serve as an important source for information, knowledge transfer, and mentoring. If you are a new Ottawa resident (immigrant) with quantity surveying and estimating experience from another country, you will find the Ottawa Chapter as a useful social channel from a networking and mentoring standpoint. You can only network with members by attending our events. If you are a college or university student with an interest in construction estimating and quantity surveying, you will have the opportunity to meet members at career shows, at class presentations, or by attending our events. We encourage everyone with an interest in the quantity surveying and construction estimating profession to stay connected with us either directly on this Facebook page or by subscribing to our email list (click the Get Email Notices button). You do not have to be a member to receive our event notices or to connect with us for social meetings and events. However, membership with the CIQS-Ontario will give you access to information that is exclusive to members, including publications, potential employers, and your pathway to professional designations - Construction Estimator Certified (CEC) and Professional Quantity Surveyor (PQS). The Chapter is currently being chaired by Joseph Scatliffe, PQS.
