Description

Travel and paint with artist /instructor Nikki Jacquin. Nikki’s work captures not only the physical features of her subject, but also their character. The subjects within her work, their interaction and their environment tell a story, usually about childhood or family life. She says, "I have painted many subjects, but am always drawn back to children and depicting their enthusiasm for life. The honesty and immediacy of children make them excellent subjects. Children are drawn into the experience of their surroundings. They focus on "now" and "the fullness of now". As adults we tend to miss this as we look into the past or rush through to the future." Portraits of your family may be booked through Nikki. The current waiting list requires booking approximately 4 - 6 months in advance of your desired delivery date. Her business Nikki's Portraits of Childhood has been in operation now for 19 years and although she is based in Regina, collectors of her work span Western Canada and into the U.S. She has many repeat private collectors who own as many as 5 - 6 of her originals. Nikki says of these clients, "I am very blessed to have their support and to have developed friendships with many of these folks through my business." Nikki also has a line of limited edition reproductions that can be viewed on her site. Several are now sold out and many others are within 1 - 5 copies of being sold out. Since 2010 She has also been an approved instructor for www.grumbacherart.com . Nikki's most recent solo show was held at the Assiniboia Art Gallery where she was pleased to join the ranks of many impressive Canadian artists. She has also exhibited at the University of Regina Club, Government House, the Joe Moran, the Joe Moran, and the Dunlop Branch Galleries in Regina. She is also a regular exhibitor at the Regina Spring Home Show and many others. In recent years Nikki has begun to expand her business Nikki’s Portraits of Childhood to include art instruction and painting holidays. In May 2013 she led a group of artists to paint plein air in Paris and the S.E. of France. Her next group painting excursion is planned for June 15 - 27th, 2014 painting the lovely and romantic SE of France once again. Nikki who loves the outdoors and painting plein air spent time working in the Moose Mountain Artists’ Colony in 2012 and 2013. She has also been guest artist in residence for the past 2 years at Cypress Hills, SK through a Creative Partnerships Grant with the Sask Parks & The Friends of Cypress Hills Inc, funded by the Sask Arts Board, Sask Lotteries and Sask. Culture. There she designed and provided arts programing to visitors to the park and conducted open studio times while working on her art practise. Nikki was a successful applicant juried to participate in the 2013 / 2014 CARFAC Mentorship program funded through the Sask. Arts Board and is excited to be mentored by artist Iris Hauser.
