Hi there! My name is Melissa Hiette. I was born and raised in Sydney where I trained to become a fine dining chef. After reluctantly being put on the pastry section at one of Sydney's top restaurants for a while, I realised that somewhere deep down I actually had a bit of a soft spot for sugar. In 2011 I moved to Townsville to marry my gorgeous husband and then decided to persue my new found passion for the sweeter side of life so I set out on my own to combine two of my favourite things; Art and Food. The love child of these two, is of course.. CAKE DECORATING!! If you have any kind of special event coming up where you might need cakes, cupcakes or cookies, I'd really love to hear from you! ALLERGY ADVICE- PLEASE READ Although utmost care is taken with cleaning procedures and avoidance of cross contamination, all products here at Paper and String, are mixed, baked and decorated using the same equipment. Flour, eggs, dairy and nuts are used on a regular basis. I cannot completely guarantee that my products are free from any of these. If you or someone at your event has an allergy, please inform me. Paper and String was created to provide beautiful cakes for any special occasion. Gorgeous designs and intricate detail on the outside need to reflect the way a cake tastes on the inside, so Paper and String cakes are always bakes with a little extra love and ALWAYS use fresh, real ingredients. NEVER packet mixes. All cakes are baked individually by a qualified chef (me) and are custom decorated to suit your individual needs and desires. Including, but not just limited to, cakes, cupcakes, cookies, macarons and your party table needs.
