“If we do not feel grateful for what we already have, what makes us think we’d be happy with more?” — Unknown

I haven't posted anything about clients recently because I have been working with folks who are facing some serious health challenges and the work feels really tender to me. I can feel the importance of this process for these folks, how sacred this exploration is and how important hope is to healing. I'm not sure clients ever realize how much time and energy we put in to thinking about them, trying to find ways to help. Here's a shout out to all of the healers and helpers out there. Thanks for caring.

“The really important kind of freedom involves attention, and awareness, and discipline, and effort, and being able truly to care about other people and to sacrifice for them, over and over, in myriad petty little unsexy ways, every day.” ― David Foster Wallace, This Is Water: Some Thoughts, Delivered on a Significant Occasion, about Living a Compassionate Life

“You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them. Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud. Do not complain. Make every effort to change things you do not like. If you cannot make a change, change the way you have been thinking. You might find a new solution.” -Maya Angelou

It's easy for us to think that habits we have had for a long time are not changeable. In fact, neuro-scientists have proven that we are capable of changing the neural connections in our brains and consequently change our behaviors and habits. This is all possible due to neural-plasticity. What’s interesting from a neurological viewpoint is that our brains don't know the difference between what's real and what's imagined. So the imagination work we do with hypnosis is as real to our brains as if we were really having that experience. That’s why hypnosis works so powerfully: it’s effective in creating new internal experiences that help to re-train the neural connections in our brains in a very specific way. What does this mean? It means that the old saying, "An old dog can't learn new tricks" is wrong. Whatever our age we can shift and change, think more positively and feel happier. Good to know!

Is it possible to see measurable changes to your eating habits and attitude towards food after three weeks of hypnosis? Why yes...yes it is!

When thinking about your life remember that no amount of guilt can change the past and no amount of anxiety can change the future. A good thing to remember for those of us who are hyper-alert and prone to anxiety.

So proud of my clients. One beautiful lady told me today that she had gone out to eat, brought left-overs home and then forgot they were in the fridge. Wonderful to see people make these changes. A little at a time adds up. Way to go!

After working with clients today I am reminded how much each one of us has to offer the world around us. Sometimes it can feel like we have nothing worth giving but the opposite is true. There are many things you can do to help others and that's a good thing. But the real gift is you. Just be you. You are enough.

If your someone who had a bad habit but don't anymore, how did you let it go? Was it slow and gradual or did you just decide one day and were done? We all know intellectually that we should do certain things or stop doing those things but that doesn't seem to matter much. What made the difference for you?

Great session today focusing on letting go of bruxism. That's clenching your jaw and grinding your teeth. We find so many ways to deal with stress. Love helping people find better ways of coping.

Just saw a report about a study following men who began smoking long before conceiving a child. Research shows that those men's children have much higher rates of asthma. Another reason to let that habit go up in smoke. Contact me if you or someone you love are ready to be free.

Sweet clients this morning. I love working long-distance as well as in person. It is surprisingly intimate working with people at a distance.

Just learned that cigarette butts are not bio-degradable. Changing your habit could help you and the environment. Win-win!
