Peaceful Parenting is the effort to mother and father our babies and children in a manner that leads to their optimal health, happiness, and well-being. Peaceful parenting is as old as humanity itself, and is coherent with listening to our own mothering and fathering instincts, as well as tuning into the cues our little ones provide for us. As parenting that is normal, natural, primal and innate, it is not necessarily the same as the cultural definition of 'attachment parenting' and it is *not* a set of hard, fast methods or laws to follow. Peaceful parenting does no intentional harm. It is parenting based upon natural human and mammalian experience, and also evidence-based research.

DrMomma.org is first and foremost a research-based site for empirical information pertaining to the health, development, happiness and wellbeing of babies and children. We speak through the presentation of evidence based information for those who are not always heard. If there is a subject that does not interest you: skip it. This is not a debate page. The peaceful parenting page exists: To provide a location for the sharing of research and ideas that empower mothers and fathers in their quest for baby- and child-friendly parenting. To present materials that foster a world of peaceful parenting, gentle birthing, and happy, healthy, securely attached little ones, growing up to make positive changes in the world around them. To speak up on behalf of babies and children. This page was started upon request by DrMomma.org readers and serves as a location of support and empowerment for these individuals. Therefore, it serves as a 'safe space' for those striving to parent peacefully. It is not another pop culture parenting page for myths, propaganda and uninformed attacks. It is not a debate page. As such, there are a few violent/aggressive items that are not allowed on the peaceful parenting page: 1) The ridicule or mockery of the normal feeding of human young of any age. All mammals are designed to consume the milk of their own species, and breastfeeding is supported and celebrated here for babies of all ages - both in public and private spheres. 2) The advocacy, propaganda, celebration or pushing of any form of sexual assault, including, but not limited to, genital cutting of any minor, female and male genital mutilation, and all forms of rape. 3) The advocacy, propaganda or pushing of any form of infant or child abuse and/or neglect, including, but not limited to leaving a baby to cry by him/her self, 'sleep training', and various forms of physical, emotional, mental and social maltreatment. 4) The conscious, deliberate removal of basic human rights from another human being, including, but not limited to, bodily autonomy (that is, the rights of an individual to make decisions about his/her own body baring medical necessity to otherwise modify/amputate/alter). Violations will be removed.
