The pediatric neurologist, Roderic L. Smith, MD, Ph.D., is board certified in Neurology with Special Qualification in Child Neurology. His medical and graduate school training was at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO. At the University of Colorado Health Science Center in Denver, CO, he completed two years of Pediatric Residency Training followed by three additional years of Neurology Residency Training with special emphasis on Pediatric Neurology. He received additional fellowship training, doing research on the effects of viruses in the nervous system. Previously Dr. Smith was a faculty member in the Departments of Neurology and Pediatrics at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. While at Denver Children’s Hospital, he provided neurological care for children ranging from premature infants to adulthood, in intensive care and hospital settings, and participated extensively in out-patient clinics. Dr. Smith has also published more than 30 papers related to epilepsy and virus infections of neurons. He has been responsible for the education and training of the pediatric neurology residents at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. His professional memberships include the Child Neurology Society, American Epilepsy Society, and American Academy of Neurology.
