March 14-22 2015. 30+acts make music in Penkhull's village hall and five pubs

2nd PENKHULL FOLK WEEK March 8-16 2014 After the huge success of last year’s festival, here we go again. And this year(hopefully) we won’t have any events snowed off! A galaxy of talent is coming, with thirty-odd acts performing throughout the village, from the most traditional to the latest song-writers. Chances to dance to the Shropshire Heroes and the Watch. Chances to listen: to veterans like Hughie Jones of the Spinners and Jolly Jock of Biggles Wartime Band; to the cream of the rising song-writing talent, from Stoke-on-Trent’s own Shae Maunders to the wondrous up and coming star of the Brighton and London scene Caitlin Stubbs; and don’t let’s forget Penkhull’s very fabulous home grown bards Clair Brennan and Duncan Bourne, both with new CDs out; as well as song check out the fabulous tune playing from the Boat Band and others, and to crown it all one of England’s greatest folk virtuosi, banjo player Rob Murch. And don’t let’s forget the village’s own Domesday Morris, who will be springing up(geddit?) everywhere. As last year, we also have many chances to participate: sing arounds and sessions in pubs, and workhops where all can try harmony singing, morris dancing and tune-playing; there is something for all age groups. Just come to Penkhull any day from March 8 to March 16, and you won’t be disappointed. Kick off with the Domesday barn dance in the village hall on Sat 8th, end up with the climax of the Gala Concert in the hall on March 15, and crawl to a survivors’ session on Sunday lunctime on the 16th.
