Dancers Bring Home Perfect Scores Kudos to Mr. Ferguson and Pershing Dance. Our Dance Division recently received two perfect scores of 50 in the District-Wide Dance Montage. All schools have the potential to fall into one of three categories- 1. Proficient- Lowest 2. Accomplished 3. Superior- Highest So, way to go Dancers for scoring as high as possible! Congratulations!

One Day, Four Trophies! Hats off to the Pershing Concert, Symphonic, and Wind Ensemble who represented our school at the Schlitterbahn Soundwaves competition recently. The Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble earned straight 1st Division Ratings, each resulting in a ‘Superior’ performance. With the Superior Ratings, each band qualified for the ‘Best In Class’ competition which they both subsequently won. Four trophies in one day – way to go!

Pershing Baseball Team Advances! With a win over West Briar, the Panda Baseball team advanced to the semi-finals of the HISD Baseball tournament. The team faces Pin Oak TODAY – April 30 – on the Pershing Field at 4:30pm. Come out and catch the action!

The efforts of these student reporters and staff directed by Mrs. Shufelt just captured a number of awards at the state level UIL Journalism competition, including… 1st Place Editorial - Alexandra Mosby 2nd Place Editorial - Jacqueline Schneider and Morgan Parker 3rd Sports Writers - Jacqueline Schneider and Kirsty Leech And, Honorable Mentions to… Sports Writer - Harrison Swales Sports Feature Story - Madeline Ogden and Charlotte Dale Personal Column - Michael Batten Entertainment Review - Colleen McLean As a whole, JJP: In the Middle, was ranked third among newspapers. What a great recognition! And, way to go to our student staff and to Mrs. Shufelt’s Journalism Department!

We have a Triathlete in our midst! Congrats to 7th Grader Donovan Jackson Halcomb for competing over the weekend in the 2015 Houston Texans Kids Triathlon held on the campus of the University of Houston. There were over 2,000 participants between the ages of 6 and 15…what fun! Way to be healthy and active, Donovan!

Pershing SECME and Engineering students participated recently in the New Digital Energy Game against 1,500+ teams throughout the district. We had 6 (SIX!!) teams in the top ten in the middle school division.
