Peter Chapman offers lessons on electric, acoustic, classical and bass guitar, in Brighton and the surrounding areas. He covers all styles of music, from the most delicate Ambient guitar to the heaviest Metal. Peter is a friendly and patient teacher, with a music degree and six years of experience. He travels to give lessons in your own home, at a time convenient to you, and welcome pupils of all ages and abilities. One of the advantages of Peter's lessons being one-to-one is that he will tailor all lessons around a student from scratch; based on their starting abilities, learning methods, practice habits and personal tastes. This can mean focusing as much or as little as desired on rhythm and lead, and shifting from the fine details of refining specific techniques to the broad canvas of simply learning to play the guitar. It also allows pupils to learn at their preferred pace. Topics such as music theory, notation, improvisation, songwriting, playing whilst singing and live performance can all be incorporated according to the wishes of the pupil. Peter offers his first lesson half price. Peter's pupils have come from a great range of starting points: Those who had never played a note, those who had taught themselves or learned online, those who had relocated too far from their previous teacher, those who had played many years before and wished to resume, those more advanced players looking to brush up on areas of their technique, and those branching out from other instruments. As well as those learning for their own enjoyment, Peter has helped people prepare for grades, school concerts and entrance exams. Peter has also been able to offer all manner of advice to those in bands, ranging from song arrangement to personality clashes, drawing from his own ten years of experience running various bands of his own. Peter is a non-smoker and strives to be a positive role model. Peter took up guitar at fourteen, after having studied piano and saxophone. His pupils have been boys, girls, men and women, aged from six to sixty, and have included many with learning difficulties. Peter prides himself on being able to explain music theory in language understandable to anyone. He holds a DBS/CRB check with enhanced disclosure.
