PFLAG represents parents, families, friends, and straight allies united with people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ).
PFLAG provides a safe, confidential space where people can feel respected and accepted – wherever in their personal journey or family struggle. The Central Kentucky chapter meets monthly, typically with a guest speaker or program the first hour, followed by support group discussion (6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 2025 Bellefonte Drive in Lexington). Attendees include LGBTQ teens and adults, their family members, teachers, clergy, college students, and allies who care about these issues. For instance, parents might come to get help dealing with their feelings after their child comes out, or to become better educated to talk with their child more effectively or to interact with relatives and acquaintances more comfortably. Other participants might be individuals who have not yet come out to their families or who seek the support that their families are not willing to offer. Come to learn. Come for support. Come to stand with us. We are stronger!
