Week 6 and the word must be spreading……….. 18.05 just fired up the cooker and the first order comes sailing in….15 Pie meals. Oh my god!!! A party ordered the job lot: Meat and Tatty Pie, Chicken an Bacon Pie and the newly introduced Cheesy Veggie Pie! Quite a baptism of fire! We set up and the night fired off at a blistering pace. It’s the Cherry Tree's darts night every other Thursday and this was it. Newly added chips, garden peas and the 100% vegetarian Pie all went down a treat and by 9.45 the final figure was 61 pies in total!!. Hard work indeed. But all enjoyed. Another goal passed and a brilliant night at the Cherry Tree!!. Will next week be more hectic!!??.............Maybe! See you there! xx
Following on from the success of Pie Jeanie Pie night at the Cherry Tree we decided to offer a new addition to the range………A Vegetarian Pie!. It was on one of the Pie nights that we asked Ian, the barman, if he would like a pie at the end of the night. He replied "I'd love one but am a vegetarian" He then said that he would have loved one and was very ’’ tempted’’!. It was always the intention to make a Veggie option because it’s only fair that the none meat eaters amongst us get the chance to try a delicious Pie Jeanie Pie!!. SO……on the menu this week is a Pie for all tastes!. It's a 100% Veggie Pie- The ‘Cheesy Vegetable’!! No need to be left out anymore. Join in and see what all the fuss is about!. Who ate all the Pies…………..Who ate all the pies?!.................
Week 5 and the famous Pie Jeanie Pie night at the Cherry Tree (Carterknowle Road) has finally hit the mark. 26th September 2013. The Pies are flying out so fast that by 8.30pm they had sold out! The enthusiastic clientele at the Cherry Tree that night were all very appreciative with one individual managing 3 Meat and Tatty pies!!. Quite a challenge. (Mmmm now that’s a thought!) The aim of the Pie Night is to bring back the good old British love of Pie's. Ask anyone and you'd struggle to find someone who doesn't like some kind of pie. The problem is that the basic idea of the Meat and Potatoes is dying out. Other vendors try various fillings some work, some don’t. Pie Jeanie believe in keeping it simple, keeping it traditional, keeping it tasting great! No need for fancy fillings. Keeping it how it should be - Pie, Peas, and Mash!!. It's been mentioned and we've listened…………….Chips!!. OK so a compromise, we'll give it a try and if you give it the thumbs up we'll keep it. What do you think of this??
Pie Jeanie have created a new Pie for our loyal following of customers!! We are always looking at ways of keeping people connected and expanding on the yummy Pie Jeanie range of tasty pies. Another night and the pies are a flying out the kitchen!! There's a mix of regulars and new customers at the bar, obviously a good thing for both the pub and Pie Jeanie. The new additions of chips and garden peas are a popular choice. We’re glad we were asked to add them to the menu! We though telling you a little bit about how we make the delicious homemade pie's at Pie Jeanie, would be of interest to customers. When we started off we wanted to keep the pie's as traditional as we could so that they were true to the pie concept that we all love- One that is dying out these days. The pastry is hand prepared using locally sourced produce. We also wanted to keep the product local so the beef was sourced from local butchers. There might be a very substantial development in the next few weeks in that we are using Chatsworth House Farm reared Beef. This is hopefully going to be tasted in our pies. Chatsworth House has long been associated with quality produce so we hope you approve!. This week is the Cherry Tree darts night so were expecting another busy night!. See you all there. Pie Jeanie!
