PINK OUT was created by the News & Record to: 1) raise awareness of the disease, 2) help families in the community affected by it and, 3) raise money for local breast cancer foundations.
The Pink Out Retro Prom is an ‘80s dance party with prom panache: prom photos, corsages and boutonnières, hors d’oeuvres, cool lighting and a costume contest to crown the Prom King and Prom Queen. Relive, reclaim or have your very first prom experience.

Hello Prom lovers! We continue to be amazed and genuinely affected by your passion for the Pink Out Retro Prom. Because of our involvement in other major events like the U.S. Figure Skating Championships and the National Folk Festival, we have been unable to bring you the Prom, too. (Alas, we cannot do it *all*.) But next year, that could change. Yes, that means a Pink Out Retro Prom in 2016 is possible. ***So, don't give up hope and keep those messages and phone calls coming.*** We <3 Pink Out Retro Prom!
Change is good, right? The Pink Out Retro Prom is taking a year off to regroup. We will miss you. BUT we are still supporting breast cancer fundraising in fun and unique ways. Stay tuned for announcements about Pink Out Cake Day and the News & Record Pink Paper. Not to mention, a really awesome T-shirt you'll be able to purchase. Thank you for your support of the Pink Out Retro Prom. We've enjoyed every minute of dancing, costume contests, trivia games and prom photo-taking. We'll be back even bigger and better in 2015! PINK OUT-
Be sure to check out tomorrow's News & Record (10/31). We've dedicated a thank you ad to all the wonderful people and organizations who were a critical part of the fun and the fundraising. It'll be on the back page of the Main section. Oh, and happy Halloween!
You came, you ate, you saw, you danced and you CONQUERED the PINK OUT RETRO PROM 2013! What a phenomenal night. You raised the bar on fun! Thank you for supporting this event. We will post a fundraising number at the end of October as we will continue to sell T-shirts through breast cancer awareness month...so check back on this site for that and for photos we shot at the Prom, too! Much <3
Prom-goers: Don't leave your credit cards at home! Even though we can't take credit cards for tickets at the door tomorrow night, George K's can take them for drinks and Alight for the Silent Auction! :-)
We were at Songbirds Consignments yesterday and heard all the stories about the great dresses you're buying for the Prom. One had sequins and feathers. Tell us about yours! We'd love to hear...
We've got a great door prize for the guys: a Panthers grill mat. (Value: $60.) Donated by Tom Mariani and Toni Jurney. :-)
