This Labor Day weekend let us all take a moment to remember and thank those that came before us in the labor movement. Also, let us all recommit to stand strong for one another and the rights and privileges we enjoy. As labor we must remain united as one and move forward or we will be left behind. God bless Local 72, each and every member and God Bless the United States of America.

Brothers and Sisters, If you have yet to respond by returning the RSVP card for the family celebration day at Stone Mountain Park I urge you to do so. The cutoff date for the RSVP is Friday August 29th. Thus far we have a very disappointing response. We have invested a tremendous amount of time and $$$ planning this event. Brother Kevin Sinyard asked that his gratitude be passed on to the members of our local for the thoughts and prayers through this trying time for him and his family. His surgery to remove his lung went well, he is in ICU and hopefully will be moved to a room later today at Kennestone Hospital. He is sitting up, having jello shooters and in good spirits. Now the road to recovery has begun. Please continue to keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
The officers and staff of UA Local Union 72 extend our heartfelt wishes that you and yours will have a safe and enjoyable Independence Day and weekend. Take a moment to remember our forefathers that risked everything to bring us our freedoms we enjoy as Americans and that we all too often take for granted. Also take a moment to thank a veteran or active military and please get involved in political affairs supporting the ones that support us!!!
A Special Independence Day Message from General President Hite This Independence Day, we come together with our families, friends and communities to celebrate the birth of our great nation and the proud heritage we share as Americans. On this day, we remember the courage and conviction of our Founders, who took an enormous leap of faith when they set their hands to the Declaration of Independence. These early pioneers placed a great trust not only in their fellow citizens, but also in the Americans who would follow in their footsteps. That trust to advance the American dream has been passed down through the generations, to millions of men and women all across our country. It lies at the heart of the American labor movement—the idea that all hardworking people deserve an opportunity to create a good life for themselves and their families. For the many freedoms we enjoy today, we also owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to the men and women of our Armed Forces and their families, both past and present, who fought for and continue to defend our nation at home and abroad. As we celebrate on the Fourth, let us remember and honor the bravery of all those who have served our country. On behalf of the entire United Association, I wish you and your families a very safe and happy Independence .
Retirees meeting Thursday June 26th at 10am at the Atlanta hall hope to see you there.
Through the generosity of our brothers and sisters as most of you are aware Local 72 has purchased a used FEMA trailer and between our apprentices and staff at the apprenticeship school and Barnhart Contracting they have converted it into a portable shower trailer that will be used in metro Atlanta to provide warm showers for the homeless. In preparation for the upcoming presentation of the trailer we would like to ask members and friends to please donate towels, washcloths, liquid soap and other personal hygienic items to turn over with the trailer. These items can be brought to the Atlanta hall, Rome hall and all training facilities up to the next monthly union meeting that will be held on July1st. Thank you all in advance for your spirit of giving and compassion.
Happy Father's Day from the officers and staff of Local 72.
Please read your mail, letters were mailed out Friday for times and dates for pictures for 25+ years of service.
