What just went out via email: Save the Date!! 30 July 2016 - going to be a huge party!! Prerelease, League Challenge, Video tournament, free pizza, free cupcakes & more! Why?? It’s a surprise!! (a really, really good surprise!!) Other cool Pokémon events coming up……. 28-29 May 2016 – Regional Championships! Last weekend for regionals. Kansas City, Salt Lake City, Massachusetts & Alberta (Canada) The format for cards is Expanded; format for video is Standard. There is a group trip planned for Kansas City. ($140 – includes van rental, gas, tolls, parking, insurance, hotel & tax) There is 1 spot left – possibly as many as 3 spots. Email texaspokemon@outlook.com if interested. 3-5 June 2016 – A-Kon!! Largest anime convention in the state of Texas! Texas Pokémon will be hosting a gaming room throughout the convention. There will be card tournaments, video tournaments plus a lot of other fun Pokémon things – plus all the convention has to offer!! Hope to see a lot of Pokémon fans there!! 18-19 June 2016 – STLShowdown 2016 What is this? So glad you asked!! It’s a Pokken tournament with HUGE prizes including cash, wii u’s, Pokken controllers and (hold on to your hats) Invitations & Travel Awards to the Pokémon World Championship in San Francisco!! Another fantastic convention where Pokémon will have tournaments. 1-3 July 2016 – US Pokemon National Championships in Columbus, OH. 19-21 August 2016 – Pokemon World Championships in San Francisco, CA. That should be enough to keep you (and your pocketbook!!) busy for the summer. Hope to see you at some of these events.

Ever thought about going to a big tournament? There is a Regional Tournament in Kansas City May 28-29. Group trip is being planned. Here are the details: $140; includes van rental, gas, tolls, parking, taxes, insurance and hotel. The hotel is Extended Stay America (about 1/2 mile away). Leave Friday 5/27 about 7:15 am from Plano, TX - return when everyone is finished on Sunday evening - will be back to Plano about 2-3 am 6/30. 6/30 is Memorial Day. This info just went out to local players: It’s almost here!! Pokémon Overload! is a couple weeks away! www.pokemonoverload.com Start getting excited!! Saturday, 30 April 2016 from 12-7 pm. New location! Legacy Preparatory Charter Academy; 601 Accent Dr, Plano, TX 75075. Across the street from Chick-Fil-A and Golf Superstore. Here’s what you can expect: Tournaments Vendors Games Raffles Scavenger Hunt Art, Cosplay, Animation/Voice Acting Escape Rooms MORE! Here’s how it works: Step 1: Event Registration – you will receive a wristband and goodie bag. Your scavenger hunt card (among other things) will be in the bag. Step 2: Tickets – most activities, including tournaments (Prerelease, League Challenge, Premier Challenge, Pokken) will require tickets. The only areas where cash/credit will be accepted are vendors and concessions. Step 3: FUN! Visit all the different events and activities. Play games, watch Pokémon movies, draw a picture, play in a tournament, get your scavenger hunt card stamped and have fun!! The Nitty Gritty: Registration: all attendees for this event ages 5+ must purchase event entry. You will get a wristband and an event bag. Inside the bag will be some goodies, some info, event schedule and your scavenger hunt card. All activities for stamps on your scavenger hunt card are free. Stop by all 5 areas, then put your name and phone number on the back of the card and drop it into the raffle box. This raffle will be pulled at 6 pm. Winner receives a 20th Anniversary Nintendo 3DS. (you do not need to be present to win) Fates Collide Prerelease – registration for flight 1 will begin at 12:15 pm. As always, you may preregister for the Prerelease, League Challenge or Premier Challenge. https://www.facebook.com/texaspokemon/app/684336108254110/ Players who preregister will be able to pick up their wristband and event bag in a separate, faster line; will receive 5 raffle tickets instead of 1 and will pay less to get into the event. If you pay at the event, the prerelease will require 6 tickets. This prerelease is a bit different than previous prereleases. You will get a box (don’t know what the box looks like – I have not received the info) with 22 key Pokémon cards, one of 4 special Promo cards and 4 booster packs. You will make your best deck of 40 using those cards. You will then be put into pods of 8 within your division and play up to 3 rounds. (single elimination) You will receive additional booster packs based on how many games you win. Minimum additional packs is 1 – maximum additional packs is 5. You keep the box, all cards from your booster packs and the promo. After the first wave of prerelease players is finished, additional pods of 8 will form; receive their box, construct a deck and play up to 3 rounds. This will continue until there is no more interest – or until we run out of prerelease boxes. Both the League Challenge (cards) and Premier Challenge (video) are 1 ticket. Top players will receive prizes. Pokken is 2 tickets; pods of 16; 1st place $50 to Cerulean City Collectibles, 2nd place $25 to Cerulean City Collectibles, 3rd & 4th place playmats. Free activities include: • Scavenger Hunt • Learn to Play (cards) • Art Contest & Kid’s Corner (you can draw a picture on the spot and enter the contest) • Cosplay/Costume Contest • Movie Room • Other Games room • Drawing Basics (on drawing anime) • Cosplay Basics (on creating a cosplay costume) • Animation Basics (on animation in general) • Community Booths Each of the following require one ticket: • Face Painting (could require more than one ticket if painted image is large) • Pokémon Bingo (get a cup w/ bingo markers, play 3 games – winner receives a Pokémon Plush, everyone keeps their cup) • Pokémon Escape Rooms – teams of 4 (1 ticket each) enter one of 3 rooms designed for different age levels. Solve puzzles based on Pokémon to open the locks and review a surprise! Each team member receives a mini Pokémon figure; teams who unlock all 3 locks will find another prize; team with the fastest time receives the grand prize. (Pokémon Box Sets; Plush, Etc.) One grand prize/room. • Learn to Draw Anime – hands on. Draw along with an amazing artist and learn how to create anime. Each young artist receives paper and a Pokémon pencil. • Engage in Cosplay – Learn from some master cosplay artists tips and tricks to that perfect costume. Receive resources to take home with you. • Animation/Voice Acting – see what it takes to put together a short, animated film. Who knows? Maybe you’ll be the next big voice actor……… Judging for the Cosplay contest will be at 3:00 pm. All cosplayers must be in the gymnasium by 2:55 in order to be in the contest. Judging for the Art Contest will be at 3:45 pm. All submissions must be in by 3:30 pm. Vendors!! The following are scheduled to make an appearance at this event: Cerulean City Collectibles (Japanese Pokémon Center items; gaming supplies, more) Garage Art Studio (Handmade bags, wallets, coin purses, paintings on a variety of mediums) Peachimi Art (keychains, stickers, memo pads, bookmarks, mini & large posters) Epik Games & Comics (gaming supplies, games, cards) Sam Stout (buy, sell, trade cards – have old cards?
