Established in 2008, by veteran police chaplain David Fair and media producer Phillip LeConte, the Police Chaplain Project has conducted over 100 interviews with police chaplains across the country. The project has been an opportunity for both Fair and LeConte to reveal an aspect of America rarely seen or heard. “Police chaplains are essential to the spiritual survival of police officers and their families,” said co-founder Chaplain David Fair, ”yet few citizens are familiar with the vital role they play. The Police Chaplain Project is changing all that.” Co-founder and videographer for the project, Phillip LeConte, hopes the content’s civility connects with viewers. “Chaplains invest language with a grace that is immediately distinguishable from most of what we hear through the media,” said LeConte. “It’s been my great honor to add their compelling voice to the national conversation and to our digital legacy.” OUR LEADERSHIP Chaplain Terry Morgan Chaplain Terry Morgan is an ordained minister with over 25 years of experience. He has spent over 13 years as a law enforcement chaplain. He is the Senior Chaplain/Executive Director of Gold Country Chaplaincy. Morgan is a Master Chaplain Level member of the International Conference of Police Chaplains, and is a member of the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation. David J. Fair David Fair is a renowned crisis intervention and stress management specialist for emergency responders. He is the director of chaplain services with the Brownwood Police Department, Texas Dept. of Public Safety’s Critical Incident Response Team, and the Texas Dept. of Health’s Critical Incident Stress Management Network. Dave served as a chaplain for the Texas Department of Public Safety Critical incident Response Team. For many years he was a licensed peace officer and EMT, as well as a member of The American College of Forensic Examiners International. Rabbi Cantor Marie Betcher Rabbi-Cantor Betcher sang in concert in Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, toured Sicily and England. New York University Recital Hall, The Ambler Music Festival in Philadelphia, Piccolo Spoletto in Charleston, SC, among many other venues. She has toured England and Sicily in concert performances. She was one of the winners of the Bellini International Opera Competition in Sicily. She has served congregations across the country, gaining a wide and varied experience throughout her pulpit career. She is currently the Rabbi, Cantor and Director of Education for Congregation Shir Ami in Cedar Park, Texas. She is honored to serve the Cedar Park Police and Fire Departments as a Chaplain. Chaplain Andy Toopes Chaplain Toopes received the John Price Award from the International Conference of Police Chaplains in 1998 and has served with the Arkansas State Police, Saline County Sheriffs Dept, ATF and DEA. Chaplain Larry Todd Police and fire chaplain, Larry Todd worked with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for nine years, State Comptrollers Office for four years and he spent five years with the Texas department of Public Safety. He is a licensed life insurance agent and works with military members who are about to deploy to help them have the best possible coverage in times of potential danger. Rabbi Cary Friedman A former chaplain at Duke University, Rabbi Friedman serves as spirituality consultant to the FBI's Behavioral Science Unit [BSU] in Quantico, VA and the law enforcement community in general. Friedman is the author of five books including Marital Intimacy, Spiritual Survival for Law Enforcement and Wisdom from the Batcave.
