LIONS INTERNATIONAL The 37th Annual Lions Day with the United Nations (LDUN) on Saturday, March 7, 2015, at the iconic United Nations Headquarters in New York City is fast approaching. This event is almost sold out, so please direct Lions and their guests to the Lions Day with the UN page on the LCI Web site to register while space is still available. This year's theme of "Children in Need" will be addressed in presentations by International President Preston and other key UN speakers along with engaging panel discussions that will delve deeper into this topic. LDUN attendees will also be amongst the first to find out and celebrate this year's winners of both the International Peace Poster and Essay Contests.

Lions, I am sending this on behalf of Lion Gord. As many of you were aware, Lion Dianne has been in Eagle Ridge hospital for some time dealing with a couple of health issues, which were settling down in good fashion. So much so that it was expected that she would be released unless she need surgery to correct an issue. With Gord visiting on Sunday evening, Dianne was suddenly and unexpectedly taken from us at 8 PM from causes unrelated to her condition that was being treated. Gord is understandably upset and in a state of shock. He is being assisted by close friends and family at this time. He is asking for your indulgence regarding the circumstances and will try to answer messages as he is able.. Also, he is requesting for you to not send flowers to the house. Respectfully, Richard Simonson Secretary Lions Club of Port Coquitlam

Subject: Facebook for the Senior Generation. Here’s a morning chuckle for you. Short but sweet! For those of my generation who do not and cannot comprehend why Facebook exists: I am trying to make friends outside of Facebook while applying the same principles. Therefore, every day I walk down the street and tell passersby what I have eaten, how I feel at the moment, what I have done the night before, what I will do later, and with whom. I give them pictures of my family, my dog, and of me gardening, taking things apart in the garage, watering the lawn, standing in front of landmarks, driving around town, having lunch, and doing what anybody and everybody does every day. I also listen to their conversations, give them the "thumbs up" and tell them I like them. And it works just like Facebook! I already have four people following me: Two police officers, a private investigator, and a psychiatrist.
