You want to help. We make it easy. Fight hunger in Portland, one green bag at a time.
The Portland Food Project is a revolutionary idea. It's a donor drive, not a food drive. Rather than asking for one-time contributions of food, volunteers enlist their neighbors to become long-term donors. People commit to giving a small amount of food every two months, which provides food pantries with a steady, year-round supply, and provides the donors with the ongoing satisfaction of making a real difference.

We are pleased to announce our new partnership with: PARTNERS FOR A HUNGER FREE OREGON, a highly respected public policy and advocacy agency publicizing existing services and advocates for programs and policies to eliminate hunger. The PORTLAND FOOD PROJECT & "PARTNERS" will be offering a dual orientation for volunteers of both organizations. The orientations will focus upon each organizations programs related to the problems of hunger insecurity in our communities. We are confident that this will lead to creative and cooperative strategies of mutual concerns. This new opportunity will immediately follow the conclusion of our next PFP pick up on Sat. Feb. 14th, 1:45pm to 2:45pm at the Luther Memorial Church 4800 NE 72nd Avenue. Light refreshments will be available. Hope to see you there! Richard Nudelman Project Coordinator
2014 has been a highly successful year towards our goal of neighbors feeding neighbors. We began in April of 2012, providing two local food pantries with 237 lbs. of food. Now, just two short years later, we are averaging over 15,000 lbs of food every two months and partnering with 15 local food pantries. That translates into almost 89,000 meals served to our Portland neighbors in need so far this year! We are proud to accomplish this, one green bag at a time, with the help of our caring and dedicated group of volunteers…in fact, the Portland Food Project is an ALL VOLUNTEER run organization. All funds raised go directly to the cost of our green bags and printing material that go out into our community to collect the food. With your generous support, we can continue to expand our reach within Portland as well as further out into the East County. Your monetary gift will help us to feed more of our Portland families in need, lifting a tremendous burden for many. Please help us by making a tax-deductible donation. You will receive a receipt for your taxes. To make an online donation, go to our website and click on the green "Donate Now" box. Both PayPal and credit cards are accepted. Huge "Thank You" to Jim Caplener, Managing Principal Broker @ Realty Trust Group, 5015 SE Hawthorne, for turning a friendly game of poker into a $1,020 fund raiser for The Portland Food Project. In poker parlance proving that a 'full house' of generosity always trumps 1 pair of hungry children. This donation will help us to fill the shelves of our 14 pantry partners!
