At the Portland House our aim is simple, to serve great products really well! We don’t believe in gimmicks however we do believe in sourcing the best selection of food and drink we can and we hope you’ll be encouraged by our changing range. For us, if you have the right ingredients; served properly and to the best standards then the rest is easy- all you have to do is enjoy them. If you are unsure about something just ask our staff, we’re proud of our range and are very happy to talk about it- whatever the query. We’re the first in Welbeck Abbey Brewery’s portfolio of pubs. Dedicating our hand-pulls to Welbeck Abbey Brewery beers alongside some featured breweries. On keg we bring you Welbeck’s own lager: Pivo, brewed at 4.8% using Czech and Polish hops. Joining Pivo are imported Czech lagers: Pilsner Urquell and Kozel. It’s not all about the beer though, we’ve devoted another hand-pull to traditional cider, plus in the fridge you’ll find bottled beer and cider from across the UK and beyond. After something a little stronger? We stock and rotate a small but considerately selected range of spirits provided by StarmoreBoss on Sharrowvale Road. Wine lovers are also in for a treat as we’ve paired up with Le Bon Vin, a family run Sheffield wine merchants who have been in the business for over 30 years. Together we have selected a delicious range of wines available by the glass or by the bottle including Prosecco, Malbec & Pinot Grigio. If you find you need a little fuel to keep you going why not try our Northern Tapas. The meat, cheese and chutney are all supplied by the Welbeck Farm Shop and our bread is freshly baked at the Welbeck Bakehouse. We change our food menu seasonally, giving you the chance to try different options throughout the year. Our food has been selected with drink in mind and can be paired perfectly with a refreshing pint of real ale or a glass of wine. Feel free to speak to us about our favourite pairings or make up your own. If it’s something mellower you’re looking for then why not try Sheffield’s own ‘Birdhouse Tea Co’ or Welbeck’s ‘Sundlaug Coffee’, an independent coffee roaster with emphasis on sustainability & quality. Both go perfectly with a slice of ‘Tipple Tails’ fruit cake (or pair it with some cheese - as is the Yorkshire tradition). Tipple Tails, a Sheffield based company, make award-winning traditional fruit cakes with locally sourced ingredients. We really want you to get the best experience from your visit as possible- even if you’re just dropping in for a swift one.
