The School offers a wide range of full-time and part-time courses for students and professionals wanting to enhance their professional development at whatever stage of their career. The courses range from part-time work-based Foundation Degrees to postgraduate programmes including our AMBA (Association of MBAs) accredited Master of Business Administration for executive managers wishing to broaden their knowledge and the Doctorate in Business Administration which is an applied work-based doctoral research degree. Most of our programmes have been accredited by professional bodies and the Portsmouth Business School is recognised as an Accredited Centre by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. In the most recent National Student Survey, the University of Portsmouth achieved a score of eighty five per cent for overall student satisfaction. This was above the sector average of eighty three per cent. In the broad Business and Administrative category (which includes business studies, marketing, human resource management, finance, accounting and hospitality management), we scored eighty seven per cent for overall student satisfaction, which places us as one of the best business schools on the south coast. Within this category we scored ninty per cent for Finance and ninty two per cent for Accounting. For other subject areas we scored eighty nine per cent in Economics and eighty three per cent in Law for overall student satisfaction. Portsmouth Business School which lies right in the heart of the city, has in the region of 5000 students (1200 of whom are postgraduate students) from all over the world. It is housed in the striking purpose-built Richmond Building which was officially opened by the Governor of the Bank of England, Mervyn King, in 2004. It is one of five faculties of the University of Portsmouth which offers a modern diverse campus and takes pride in its reputation among students for the friendliness and approachability of its staff and for the provision of a well structured learning environment.
