From one generation to another, Things are changing at the Trading Post in Wahnapitae After over 30 years serving the community of Sudbury, Pow Wow Moccasins has started liquidating its stock in preparing to wind down operations, while i-Bead prepares for its expansion. WAHNAPITAE, ON – February 2015 Wayne and Muriel Mogensen, owners of Pow Wow Moccasins in Wahnapitae have announced that after over 30 years in business, they are ready to retire and wind down operations of their store. They would like to liquidate all of the stock, and have made one thing very clear “Everything Must Go!”, including the store fixtures. The plan is to get this done quickly over the next few months with an expected closing date of June 30th. Everything in the store is now on sale including moccasins, hats, clothing, art, a variety of crafts and locally made products. Their daughter Ingride Mogensen operates i-Bead (a division of the company). I-Bead is Northern Ontario's largest discount bead & craft supply next door to Pow Wow Moccasins. Due to the high demand for supplies, she needs to expand i-Bead by renovating the space and making it a 5000 square foot store front on the main floor of the Trading Post building. She plans to take over the family business, The Mogensen Moccasin Co. Ltd.. “It's time for a change, to rejuvenate and refresh. I will continue the family business through i-Bead”. I-Bead currently houses a large selection of beads, jewellery making supplies, and aboriginal craft supplies. She will be enlarging the existing selection as well as bringing in new and exciting products. All of this is expected to take place over the course of this year.
Pow-Wow Moccasins will be open this Civic Holiday from 10am to 5pm.
