Description

A Doula is a person experienced with birth who offers support to a laboring mother prenatally, during labour and during the postpartum period. As Doulas we support you and your birth plan. We provide emotional, physical and educational support to you and your partner. Studies show that having a Doula shortens your labour, babies are healthier and breastfeed easily. Our prices vary depending on services provided however a typical client will pay $800.00. This fee includes 2 prenatal visits (1-2 hours each), labour and delivery as well as 2 postpartum visits (1-2 hours each). Meet the Doulas: Lynn My name is Lynn Vis and I am a certifying Doula through HALO Doula. I was born and raised in the Sudbury area, I have been married for over 6 years and recently became a mom (April 2014). I struggled with fertility for 3 and a half years until I was blessed with a beautiful daughter. I had a wonderful pregnancy and love being a mom. I have always loved pregnancy, birth, and babies and I feel that working with pregnant women is what I am meant to be doing. I have a diploma in Social Services and Addictions Counselling. Prior to getting pregnant I worked with individuals with various disabilities for 8 years. My role was to help my clients find and maintain employment in a competitive world. It was not always an easy job however it was very rewarding when a client who never thought he/she was capable of working in the 'real world' found and thrived in his/her employment. It was a humbling experience however I am ready to begin a new venture. My areas of interest include but are not limited to pregnancy and fitness, child birth education, fertility, reflexology and the postpartum period. Julie My name is Julie Dakin and I am a certifying Doula through the HALO organization. I am also a wife and mother of two wonderful boys. I began my journey into motherhood at the age of sixteen and, years later welcomed my second son at the age of twenty nine. My birth experiences left such a positive impression on me that I feel compelled to ensure that every woman feels the same way. I hold a Diploma in Social Service and a Diploma in Early Childhood Education. I spent eight years working with teenagers as a Life skills Trainer and learned a lot about supporting these individuals with their life goals. My love of children, and my desire to spend every possible moment with my own children, has led me to my current position as a home daycare provider. Pregnancy and birth is such a special time and I have a passion for learning more about birth and supporting women and their partners as they welcome their child into the world.
