Description

Transparency Relationships with suppliers must be based on openness and trust. Precidio promotes an environment of transparency and information exchange with its suppliers in all aspects of business including labour policies practices and conditions. All suppliers must provide unaltered and accurate information with respect to labour policies, practices, and conditions as a condition of doing business. Precidio will not knowingly enter into a business relationship with a supplier who refuses to be transparent, and, if manufacturing is in progress, lack of transparency may result in the discontinuation of the relationship. Ethics and Integrity Precidio strives to conduct business with honesty and integrity. Suppliers, factories and vendors must not offer an incentives including money, gifts, or entertainment of any kind to Precidio associates or third party representatives of Precidio’s customers in exchange for preferential treatment. Any supplier found to have engaged in bribery will be immediately discontinued. Child Labour No person shall be employed under the age of 16, or under the age of completion of compulsory education, whichever is higher. Suppliers shall comply with all laws and regulations relating to the employment of minor workers. Due to the high risk of child labour involved in home work, no home work shall be used by the manufacturer. Forced Labor All labour must be voluntary. There shall be no use of forced labour in any form including: prison labour, indentured labour, bonded labour, human trafficking or slavery. Discrimination No person shall be subject to any discrimination in employment, including hiring, compensation, benefits, advancement, discipline, termination or retirement, on the basis of gender, race, religion, age, disability, sexual orientation, nationality, political opinion, or social or ethnic origin. Harassment or Abuse Every employee shall be treated with dignity and respect. No employee shall be subject to any physical, sexual, psychological or verbal harassment or abuse. Employers shall document and communicate to all workers a progressive disciplinary policy e.g., escalating discipline action steps such as verbal warning, written warning, suspension, and termination. Any exceptions to this rule e.g., immediate termination for theft or assault, shall be in writing and clearly communicated to workers. Freedom of Association and Collective Bargaining Employers shall recognize and respect the right of employees to freedom of association and collective bargaining. Wages and Benefits Employers shall pay employees, at least the minimum wage required by local law or the prevailing industry wage, whichever is higher, and shall provide legally mandated benefits. In accordance with country laws, employees shall be compensated for overtime hours at a premium above their regular hourly rate. Employers shall not withhold payment of wages and benefits and shall not use monetary fines as a disciplinary practice. Hours of Work Employers shall not require workers to work more than the regular and overtime hours allowed by law. All overtime work shall be done on a voluntary basis. Other than in extraordinary circumstances, the sum of regular and overtime house in a week shall not exceed 60 hours. Employers shall respect and workers’ rights to breaks during work shifts and workers shall be entitled to at least one day of rest in every seven-day period, as well as public holidays. Health and Safety Employers shall provide a safe and healthy workplace setting to prevent accidents and injury to health arising out of, linked with, or occurring in the course of work or as a result of the operation of employer's facilities. Employers must provide safe and sanitary conditions for workers in all housing and social facilities provided by the employer. Environmental Responsibility Manufacturers shall ensure that their manufacturing facility complies with environmental laws, including all laws related to waste disposal, air emissions, discharges, toxic substances and hazardous waste disposal. Manufacturers shall adopt measures to mitigate negative environmental impacts and must work toward environmental improvements in their operations, which may include: waste reduction, pollution prevention, proper waste disposal, sustainable and efficient use of natural resources, and energy management. Subcontracting Manufacturers shall not engage in any form of subcontracting without prior written consent from Precidio. All subcontracted factories must be disclosed and agree to operate within this Code of Conduct. All subcontracted factories utilized will be subject to inspection. Monitoring & Documentation Manufacturers will allow Precidio to perform onsite assessments of manufacturing facilities on an announced or unannounced basis. During onsite assessments suppliers shall grant free access to facility grounds, workers for confidential interviews, and relevant records for at least the past 12 months. Suppliers shall maintain records and documentation – including attendance and pay records – to facilitate verification of compliance with this Code of Conduct. Continuous Improvement Precidio is committed to fostering a supportive and progressive approach to monitoring and evaluating labour conditions. If any issues are identified through the assessment process, Precidio will work with suppliers to ensure sincere and continuous improvement towards clear improvement goals. Suppliers must strive to maintain policies and procedures sufficient to manage compliance with this Code of Conduct. Communication of the Code of Conduct Manufacturer must post this Code in all major workplaces, in English and language of employee, and must inform employees of their rights and obligations defined by this Code and applicable law.
