You’ll Know When You Have a Cavity Myth. “Sometimes you will know it, but at that point, it has usually spread to larger proportions than it would have if it had been found at a routine dental screening. With timely checkups, your dentist can find a cavity before it causes pain.

Sugar Is the Only Thing That Causes Cavities Myth, but it’s almost a fact. The truth is, acid produced by bacteria in your mouth is the cause of cavities. Any carb you eat can start that process. That includes sugar as well as rice, potatoes, bread, fruits, and vegetables

Snacking For dental health, it’s recommended that people limit eating and drinking between meals. Of course, sometimes eating between meals must happen. Unfortunately, most people choose foods like sweets and chips for snacks; foods that harm teeth by promoting tooth decay. If you do snack, make it a nutritious choice—such as cheese, yogurt, fruits, vegetables or nuts—for your overall health and the health of your teeth.

MYTH or FACT? "If You Have a Cavity, You'll Know It" MYTH “That’s a big, big, bad myth”. Mild tooth decay doesn’t cause symptoms. The pain we associate with cavities comes when tooth decay is more advanced and causes damage to the nerve. Allowing tooth decay to advance can “lead to much more expensive procedures, like root canals and crowns”. That’s why regular dental checkups are so important. Also, once a cavity starts, it doesn’t repair itself. A cavity “will always grow once you get to a point where you can’t clean it out any longer.” Once decay gets into the dentin of the tooth -- below the enamel -- it just continues to grow.

:-) A doctor was driving his four-year-old daughter to preschool when she picked up a stethoscope that he had left on the back seat and began playing with it. Glancing in his mirror, he smiled at the thought that perhaps his daughter would eventually follow in his footsteps. Than the child spoke into the instrument:" Welcome to McDonald's. May I take your order?" :-)

The doctor told his patient: "I want you to take one of these orange pills with a glass of water first thing in the morning; then I want you to take one of these yellow pills with a glass of water immediately after lunch; and I want you to take one of these green pills with a glass of water last thing at night." "What exactly is the matter with me?" asked the patient. The doctor said: "You're not drinking enough water." :-)

Factoid: Did you know there is an easy saliva test that detects decay causing bacteria ? We routinely use this test during your dental cleaning. We can and DO detect and kill decay causing bacteria months before they cause any damage to your teeth.

VERTICAL DIMENSION: ever heard of it? Very important… it is the perfect amount of opening between upper and lower jaws. If it is too large… pain, headaches and joint problems. If it is too small…. joint problems, pain in face and ears. If it is just right… joy and comfort. ALWAYS tell a dentist if your teeth are not meeting correctly and evenly all the way around. This is especially important when dentures and sleep appliances or reconstructions are done…. . VERTICAL DIMENSION …. NEEDS TO BE JUST RIGH

Through the Window One morning as an elderly couple was eating breakfast, the wife looks out the window and sees her neighbour hanging clothes on the line to dry. "That laundry doesn't even look clean" the wife comments. "Perhaps she needs better laundy soap." Her usband ignores her comments and continues to read his paper. As the weeks pass, every time the neighbor hangs clothes on the line, t...he wife comments about her dirty laundry. Then one morning the wife is surprised to see nice clean laundry on the line and says to her husband, "Wow, it looks like she finally learned to wash clothes correctly." The husband simply replied, "I finally washed our windows." Sometimes what we see when watching others depends on the clarity of the window through which we look.See More
