Pride School: Where you NEVER have to worry.... Will I be laughed at for wearing the clothes I want to wear? Can I get an internship with a gay business and not be questioned for why I'd want to? Who will understand when I talk about my queer identity? Will I be able to pee in peace today in whatever bathroom I choose today? Will I be the only kid with 2 moms or 2 dads (or more!!!)? Can I hold my sweetie's hand without getting beat up/harassed? How many times will I hear "that's so gay"? (zero!!!!) Will they use the pronoun I ask them to? Your new school family awaits! We are creating the nation's first PreK-12 PRIDE SCHOOL, aimed at LGBTQQIA educators, students, families, and community mentors: where all can be themselves, be honored for their whole selves, and access a fun, rigorous, 21st-century education, filled with amazing connections to the greater Atlanta LGBTQQIA community and a solid education in LGBTQQIA issues and history. Located in the Atlanta, Georgia area, and ready to meet once or twice a week for 2014-15, we are seeking free meeting space, planning help, events coordinators & event volunteers, Seminar Leaders, tutors, playgroup leaders, Board Members, curriculum developers/seekers, mentors for our youth, low-cost to free Professional Development, Website help, bookkeeping help, STUDENTS who want help with the 2014-15 school year and may want to enroll PT or FT in 2015-16. As we are a fledgling organization, we are largely seeking volunteers at this point, yet this provides a great opportunity for the right people to be in from the ground up of a growing enterprise, where all will be paid well for their hard and thoughtful work.
