QECA is a student run association for engineering and commerce students to develop their understanding of resource industries in Canada and abroad.
The Queen’s Energy and Commodities Association was founded in 2007 as an organization to bring engineering and commerce students together to develop their understanding of resource industries in Canada and abroad. Hosting bi-weekly meetings open to all Queen’s University students, QECA provides a holistic understanding of resource industries by analyzing elements of both the engineering involved and the markets at large. The association strives to connect students with industry professionals to form strong relationships that provide ground-level insights from market leaders. QECA currently has a team of 20 analysts covering the Oil and Gas, Metals and Mining, as well as Grains and Agriculture industries.

The Stephen J.R Smith School of Business or the Smith School of Business (formerly the Queen's School of Business) is a business school located at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. The school offers undergraduate and graduate programs as a part of Queen's University, but is managed separately with its own dean and budget. The school of business became its own faculty in 1963 with its first dean, Lawrence Macpherson. The current dean at the Smith School of Business is Dr. David Saunders.The Smith School of Business is widely acknowledged as one of the leading business schools in Canada and the world with regards to both its undergraduate and graduate business programs. In 2012, Bloomberg rated Smith's MBA program as the best in Canada and 4th best outside of the United States. The undergraduate program, Queen's Commerce, is considered to be the strongest undergraduate business program in Canada.The school is fully accredited by the AACSB (United States) and the EFMD (EQUIS) (Europe).NamingOn October 1, 2015, the Queen's School of Business was renamed The Stephen J.R. Smith School of Business in recognition of a $50-million donation from Stephen J.R Smith. Smith, a graduate of the Queen's University's Faculty of Engineering, stated "I believe the School of Business has the energy and the strategy, to advance its international influence and recognition would prove good for all of Queen’s." The donation is the single largest to any Canadian business school.
