Description

Eline van den Broek is the founder of Quid Novi, Institute for Economic Policy Analysis. (2005: the European Independent Institute) based in The Hague, the Netherlands. After graduating from Utrecht University’s honors college in 2002, where she specialized in economics, law and political science, Eline earned an MA degree in political science from Leiden University in 2003. After her master thesis investigation “To what extent did the media subsidize political parties during the election campaigns in 2003?”, Eline was especially motivated to compensate for the left-wing bias in the media and shortly thereafter joined the conservative think tank Edmund Burke Foundation to specialize in healthcare policy and contribute to the public debate on healthcare reform through the media. When, in the summer of 2005, the foundation’s board decided to stop the public policy program to pursue the educational program for university students, Eline took the initiative to raise a new independent public policy institute to continue with and elaborate on EBF’s expertise and network in the public policy field. In 2008, Eline earned a post-master degree in Journalism from Erasmus University in Rotterdam and continued to work as an investigative journalist while running the Quid Novi Institute. Since 2004, Eline has focused her attention on health policy and health care reform. She has been a fellow at several think tanks, she has been a policy advisor in the Dutch and European Parliaments, and she has been an independent journalist, all with attention to this topic. In 2012, Eline moved to Atlanta (GA) to move beyond practical experience to gain a stronger academic grounding in the topic in a Master of Science program in Health Services Research at Emory University. For Quid Novi, Eline is working on a range of healthcare projects, specializing in cost containment strategies in Europe and the United States. Her focus remains on health insurance and reimbursement systems, managed competition in healthcare and incentives for consumers to switch insurance plans, reference pricing of pharmaceutical products and cross border healthcare. Eline has contributed to many websites, published many op-eds in (inter)national newspapers and magazines, and is frequently seen and heard in the Dutch media. Email: eline@quidnovi.nl
