Yesterday was Triumphant! Sorry that I didn't finish the count down but I was kind of busy getting ready to open. It wasn't meant to be a Grand Opening technically (because there will1 be a later Grand Opening event), but it was pretty freakin Grand. The place was packed and I saw so many familiar and happy faces and so many folks expressing such good thoughts for my return to the rolls of San Diego Breweries. Thanks so much to everyone that came (especially those that came early enough to wait in line.) Auspicious indeed

For Goodness Sake is back!! Yes, it's sake, kind of. It's fermented from almost all rice, but with a little bit of malt and with a little bit of raspberries, just to make it interesting. It's light and refreshing, but it has the sake taste, but just a little bit. I guarantee that you won't get anything like this in another San Diego brewery. That's for sure. So enjoy it while you can, because when I sell out for a billion dollars, it may not be available anymore. I'm just saying..

Hey Merlout is back! That very unique blend of Stout and Merlot. It's kind of like wine, but it's kind of like stout. But it is really delicious. Now, before anyone says anything, I know that "very unique" is kind of an illogical phrase. Either something is unique or not. There are no degrees of uniqueness. Something can't be a little unique or a lot unique. It's just unique. So why did I say "very unique" Just to emphasize that it's unique in a way that makes it more different than everything else compared to other things that may also be unique. So, here's the way I look at it. Unique is different from everything else. Right? But somethings might be close to other things, but still different. They are still unique, but just barely. Other things are like waaay different from other things, so that's very unique. So,merlout is very unique.

I made my chili for the Chili Cookoff this Saturday. It's chicken chili with lots of jalepenos and a little bit of curry flavor and I have to say it's pretty awesome. I will be disqualified from winning the prize though because I have no need for a Reckless Brewing Gift Certificate. You, on the other had, do

It's called For Goodness Sake- I know what you're all thinking now: What crazy new concoction does Dave have at Reckless Brewing now? Well, I think I'm not going to let you down... It's sake. (No, it's not saki, it's sake- pronounced Sah-Kay- trust me, I know Japanese). It's mostly sake, that is. I used a little trick I like to call science to bypass the traditional and tedious way that sake is made and used some good old enzymes to break down the rice to be fermentable. It's very complicated and I don't expect you to understand it (this is a joke, I know my audience is the most sophisticated beer audience out there.) It's lighter than normal sake and I added a little something extra- raspberries. To be precise I put in a little of the raspberry beer called Precious Endeavor. It's carbonated so it's kind of like a raspberry soda, but it tastes like sake. This is a pilot batch and it's very small. It may be gone in the first day, so I wouldn't wait if I were you. Oh, what's it called? For Goodness Sake!

Newfangled beer on tap today, very small batch! It's sake. (No, it's not saki, it's sake- pronounced Sah-Kay- trust me, I know Japanese). It's mostly sake, that is. Also on tap this week- Applicious Ale. It's light and refreshing like the Pineapple Paradise, but with apples and a hint of cinnamon and nutmeg.
