WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON TRAINING CHANGE Will now be a 'swim set' and for the remainder of winter include a short run to warm up - There will be no more wind trainer! Session remains 4.30pm - 5.30pm (ish - Sometimes a little longer) So please bring all swim equipment and joggers. We will however (once school holidays are over) start doing a 'LONG' ride on every second Sunday. We've done this a couple of times and the kids have loved it.... usually followed by a bit of brekkie and coffee for the stressed coaches & parents!. I will publish our first ride as soon as possible. A big thanks to the feedback from the parents. I want the kids to enjoy themselves as well as train hard and your thoughts are vital.
Big thank you to Evie, Angel, Ben & James (& Penny, Kate, Scott & Michelle) for attending today's 'Day for Dani' swim and giving their time and donations for a very worthy cause. Thank you Pups
LONG RIDE THIS SUNDAY It had come to my attention that school holidays start this week and next week... typical father - I was completely unaware. However I have mentioned that we would do another ride as soon as possible so now at the beginning of the holidays is probably the best time to do it. THIS SUNDAY starting at 7am from the Esher Street Cafe & Deli 46 Esher Street, Tarrangindi We will venture onto the bike track from there and head south. The coffee shop opens at 6 so this will be an ideal place for some parents to sit back, relax and wait for us to get back (Approximate time: 2 hours) Please let me know if your child is keen to go.
This Sunday's ride is definately on..... this is your chance younger pups to join our senior pups for a LOOOONG ride!! Just finalising a start and finish point..... and as we do with the senior dogs, we always finish with food &/or refreshments. (Coffee for the coach) More information to come tomorrow.
BOOK IT IN - PUPS LONG RIDE 'NEXT' SUNDAY (7 June) (Ride for ALL pups & senior pups) Starting at 7am from a place yet to be determined. Am trying to find a place close to the Yeronga Pool and bike tracks where we can all meet afterwards for a drink. We will ride towards Logan/Mt Gravatt (all on bikeways) until we decide on a point of turn, then head back. Senior pups will ride ahead and the juniors will follow behind at will. All parents with bikes are welcome to come along Anyone interested - a comment would be appreciated please
THIS WEEKEND (SUNDAY) there are 2 events that might interest some of our athletes. (Whether they want to watch or compete) • The first being the QUEENSLAND MOUNTAIN RUNNING CHAMPS HELD AT D'Aguilar National Park, Bellbird Grove Rd, Enoggera Reservoir QLD http://qldathletics.org.au/Competition/Calendar-of-Events/xtreme-country-challenge-6 • The second being Round 2 Cyclocross Race held at the Nundah Criterium Track http://www.qldcx.com/?tribe_events=national-cyclocross-series-round-2-2 Just some food for thought... I will be attending the cyclocross race to watch with my son. I will talk to all the parents and organise one event in the future that we can all attend (for some fun)
DATE KEEPERS Saturday 1 Aug: Moreton Bay Duathlon (Run/Bike/Run) Lakeside Internation Raceway Sunday 9 Aug: Springfield Duathlon Springfield Lakes * More information to come ** First Triathlon race starts on Sept 5 (Don't leave your training to the last minute)
Don't forget this Sunday..... TQ FAMILY FUN DAY 24 May from 11 – 2.30pm Lake Precinct, Roma St Parklands Announcement of TQ Club Champions, state series winners etc and a great chance to catch up with the rest of the Red Dog Family. Food and drink will be available for the special day. Trent, Sarah and Brett would love to see you all there
Winter is definately here and we are changing our training strategies to suit. It is my intention to make each lesson a little different so the kids enjoy something alternate especially in the upcoming cold mornings. Please remember that Thursday is now Run (with core) & then swim. Could you also (if the kids have them) remember to bring the fins. We will be doing more technical swimming (stroke correction) than the norm and the fins help with buoyancy. Like all our successful kids in their past cross country races, the twins today came 9th and 11th in a very tough field for the MetEast race.... damn fine work. Also... it is only 4 days til Theresa comes home but apparently we're not counting (Isn't that right Penny!)
