The Residence Inn by Marriott Boston Downtown/Seaport hotel is seeking an experienced bartender for our small boutique hotel lobby bar. The ideal candidate should be friendly, outgoing, neat and refined, with a passion for providing top quality service. The position would be Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with the bar being open from 5pm - 10pm (minimum) with the option to stay open a bit later if busy. This is an independent position, so the candidate will be responsible for all the nightly operations. Our inpiring story in the top 4 ! A Grand Opening Residence Inn Boston Seaport/Downtown is unique. We are on the waterfront, in a building that used to be a warehouse. Our goal was to create an equally unique and memorable grand opening in June 2013. Of course we wanted client exposure, but being a new hotel in the area, we also wanted to show our support for the community. We began to plan a grand opening event that would also serve as a fundraiser for a local organization. We had some contacts at the Boston Children’s Hospital and decided it was the right cause because it is also a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. We would hold a silent auction, invite all associates and their families, and engage clients and community friends. The director of CMN Hospital Programs at Boston Children’s arranged for a special visitor to attend our grand opening. 10-year-old Brooke is a leukemia survivor who had received treatment and a bone marrow transplant through Boston Children’s. She also happens to be a CMN Champion. As soon as she and her family arrived, the magic began. Guests enthusiastically bid on items in our silent auction, including four nights at a Marriott resort anywhere in the world, round-trip airfare for two, Broadway tickets, and so much more. Our whole team was involved, including my 9-year-old daughter. She asked to set up a table where she could sell handmade bracelets and donate the profits to CMN. Once she met Brooke, my daughter was even more thrilled to donate the $120 raised from bracelet sales to CMN. The most memorable moment of the night came when Brooke’s mother got up to speak and told the difficult story of Brooke’s cancer journey. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room. She also shared how much it meant that Residence Inn shifted the focus of our own grand opening to shine a spotlight on CMN. She said, “That Residence Inn reached out and engaged their clients for us is a demonstration of ‘relationships’ at their very best.” In all, our grand opening raised $5,437 for CMN...and as a result of the experience, our team has been inspired to do even more. We’ve already scheduled a blood drive, have plans to prepare a holiday meal for the families of children being treated at Boston Children’s, and some of our associates have become hospital volunteers. The spirit of CMN - and of little Brooke - are alive and well at Residence Inn Boston Seaport/Downtown. I contribute to the success of my hotel by bringing the Residence Inn Blueprint to life.
