Before I head out heres the first entry of what will hopefully be an up and running Blog. It not on our website yet (that where it will be when it gets added), but Since it small biz Saturday thought would put some thoughts out there. I am new to this so please be patient with me. It’s a bit like water you see it every day all around you one way or another, either by tap, rain, rivers etc, but it isn’t until it is no longer there that you miss it. I was over in Spain recently and although I, like most people, enjoy the warmth and sunshine, I was amazed at how brown their fields were and how skinny, and few, their sheep were. It made me appreciate our green fields, even if it comes at a price, rain! This reminds me of our local shops and businesses, we don’t appreciate them until they are no longer their. The amount of times I went to walk into my favourite shops, just to find they are now closed, really breaks my heart. Some of these businesses have been there for generations. These are people who have been devoted to bringing us personalized custom and service for years, not too mention good quality goods and items. Although it may be sometimes cheaper and more convenient to buy items online or in big stores they do not give you that personal service where you feel you know the people serving you and they know you and what you like and don’t like. With the Small Business Day approaching here are some reasons you should check out your local shops and businesses this year. Personal Service Local - no need to drive miles You buy just what you want - not tempted to buy a lot of other things you didn’t intend to Helps build a community Help keep jobs for local people Chance to meet up with other locals If there is a problem you know where to go for a solution No huge phone bills trying to call them You are more likely to know who your are dealing with and who is dealing with your order or enquiry. People in small businesses tend to care more about what they are selling and who they are selling to, as they know how hard it is go gain and keep customers, and their reputation. What your reasons for supporting small and local companies?
