The word "retro" derives from the Latin prefix retro meaning backwards or in past times; to look back at the past with a nostalgic eye. The past in this case meaning before the age of mass production; in an era when you could turn something over and it DIDN'T say "Made in China" on it. I have been an eclectic collector all my life and worked in upholstery for the past 10. I love the feeling of blowing new life back into tired old things; that armchair destined for the dump; hang on - it's beautiful; just needs to be re-upholstered, re-covered, re-vived and then it's re-ady to be re-used. And best of all; it's re-tro! And one of a kind. And it will last another 50 years. How much of the stuff produced today will still be around in half a century?
