Richmond Cricket Club was founded in 1862 we are celebrating or 150th Anniversary this year, Richmond Cricket Club is one of London's largest and most successful amateur cricket clubs.
We were one of the founder members of the Shepherd Neame Middlesex County Cricket League and currently have five mens League XIs playing throughout the season on a Saturday. The Club also enters 3 Sunday cup competitions, plus the midweek Twenty20, in addition to friendly and development league cricket on Sundays, and operating a social side every Sunday. There is cricket for all ages and abilities at Richmond.
The Club has one of London's largest Colts sections with almost 400 youngsters, between the ages of 6 and 15. Competitive fixtures are staged for Under 17, Under 15, Under 13, Under 12, Under 11 and Under 10s but there is very much an emphasis on everyone having to chance to play and enjoy the game.
The Club's main ground, Old Deer Park, is one of London's finest facilities. Middlesex CCC stage County one-day matches at the ground, and it is also used regularly by the County 2nd XI. Richmond 3rd and 4th XI matches are played at the Imperial College Sports Gound in Teddington and the 5th XI at Imperial College Sports Ground, Harlington.
Richmond prides itself on being a very social club, with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. On a Saturday evening following matches, the bar is usually a hive of activity as the day's events are mulled over, celebrated or commiserated. We stage Saturday Socials on several match days during the season, when a live band is put on to entertain us and members are encouraged to bring their friends and partners down to Old Deer Park.
Every August, as part of the annual cricket tour, Richmond players descend on the glorious Cotswolds for a week of cricket, golf, and lots of socialising! We also hold a number of formal nights each year, including the Annual Dinner, the Summer Ball and the Club Supper. Further information about these events can be found on our website.
The Club is always keen to attract new members. Winter nets start on Sunday 5th February 2012 at St Paul’s School, Barnes and outdoor nets start the first week of April at our home ground at Old Deer Park in Richmond – see the website for more details on the new net facilities. There are a series of friendly and inter-club matches that take place before the league season starts to ensure new members are given every chance to get into a team that matches their ability – first friendlies take place 21st/22nd April.
