Description

Vision We will ensure that the school is inspiring and welcoming and that all members of our community feel respected and valued. We will help every student develop high self-esteem, independence skills and an enthusiastic attitude to life and learning. We value and promote inclusive learning, and we will develop strategies to enable all our students to make a success of their lives. ICT Vision We will creatively and imaginatively harness the potential of ICT in teaching and learning. We will use ICT to engage, motivate and empower students. ICT Aims To use ICT to ensure that inspirational teaching is at the heart of the school’s provision, and that students’ learning experience is creative, challenging, rewarding and fun. To deliver a broad, balanced and relevant ICT curriculum which will enable each student to develop the knowledge, skills and understanding appropriate to their individual capacity. To give staff and students access to the current and relevant e-safety advice in order to provide a healthy, stimulating but safe learning environment where clear boundaries for students are respectfully communicated and consistently reinforced. Students will use ICT to communicate, enabling them to interact, express their preferences and needs, participate in decision-making and become well-adjusted and confident citizens. We aim for students to leave Riverside with the ICT skills and behaviours to use the internet and ICT devices as safely and effectively as they are able. Through the use of blogs and other appropriate internet and IT based means we will develop students’ relationship skills, encouraging shared moral values and sensitivity to others, and promoting self and peer advocacy. All students will acquire ICT skills to allow them access to accredited courses according to their abilities and interests. All students will celebrate their success through ICT, ensuring that all students feel part of the whole campus community. To use ICT, where possible, to enhance students’ links with the wider community, actively supporting them in experiencing and engaging with the safe use of the internet and social networking tools. To establish a staff culture of continuous improvement of ICT skills, where reflective practitioners are mutually respectful and supportive. Students will learn, where possible, the value and risks of using the internet. We will ensure that every culture and heritage at the school is valued, understood and embraced for its richness and diversity, that all equalities issues are effectively addressed, and that any prejudice is rigorously challenged. To use ICT and electronic communications to promote an atmosphere of cooperation, with governors, staff, parents, students, friends and supporters working in partnership together.
