The Royal Mile Apartment is a truly unique place to stay - our bright young team will welcome you to our beautiful Victorian Town Apartment bursting with character and charm. We have created a fusion of contemporary living space with good old fashioned Scottish Family hospitality. Our guests often say it's more like a Family home than a Hostel, with a laid back attitude and cosy friendly atmosphere. The Royal Mile Apartment is the place to chill out and make new friends. We are only 15 minutes' walk to Edinburgh Castle, 3 minutes walk to Holyrood Palace, 3 minutes walk to Scottish Parliament. And Arthurs Seat, the extinct volcano is right on our doorstep with the largest green belt area, Holyrood Park, Holyrood Abbey & The Queen's Gallery. Reception is open from 7am to 10pm and check in time is from 3pm to 10pm. If you arrive in the city before 3pm, please feel free to drop off your luggage and we will give you a map and introduction to Edinburgh, then come back after 3pm to check in. We aim to provide a good night's sleep for our guests so that everyone feels refreshed the next day to explore the city or to continue with their onward journey. Therefore there is strictly no check in after 10pm. If you plan to arrive after 10pm, then please do not book with us. This rule can be extended to 11pm in case of delays in transportation. After 11pm there will be no entry until the following day. The Royal Mile Apartment is a loving, caring and sharing place to be - we donate 10% of our profit to a housing charity. So when you stay with us, you are also helping to provide homes for people in need. We are situated in the artistic area of the city centre. Nearby are 4 cinemas, 3 theatres, a concert hall, a wide selection of restaurants, bars, coffee houses - and a co-operative super market that opens till 10pm for your essential supplies! The communal living areas are clean and cosy providing a great space to relax and unwind after a busy day of sightseeing. We have a spacious comfy lounge where you can relax and enjoy reading some of our books in our extensive travel library. We have a fully equipped self catering kitchen including a dish washer...... so no need to wash up, Yey! There is also a large back garden where we host regular campfires and BBQs - so bring your guitars and best (or worst) singing voices and join us for a good old sing along around the fire; dancing is optional! We provide all these free stuff: Free breakfast consisting cereal, toast, jam, butter spread, chocolate spread, peanut butter, marmalade, tea and coffee. Free tea and coffee all day. Free Wi-Fi, free internet access on a desk top computer. free towel hire, free linen. Free power adaptor hire, free reading light hire. Free ear plugs, Free shower gel. We offer a bright and spacious room which is our 4-bed dorm; The 4-bed dorm has a private mezzanine with the whole area floored with super king size memory foam for a couple to share with electrical sockets, bedside table and a lamp. Below is two more double beds and one single bed so it can accommodate up to a family of 4/5. We operate a no shoes policy in The Royal Mile Apartment to keep the house in spotless order, a shoe rack and slippers are provided at the entrance making it feel like a real home from home. There is a no smoking policy throughout the Housel with smoking area in the back garden. There is no curfew. However, we are not a party house, therefore the lounge and kitchen are unavailable at midnight and we request that guests be very quiet when returning after midnight, this is to ensure other guests who are sleeping are not disturbed. Please be aware there are different booking conditions for bank holiday weekends, sports event weekends, August, Christmas and New Year due to high demands during these periods; ask for details. Check-in is after 15:00 only - and till 22:00. Check-out by 11:30. Reception is open from 7:00 to 22:00. Cancellation policy is 72 hours in advance. Under Age Policy: Guests under the age of 15 must stay in a private room with a family member who is over 18. Guests aged 16 and 17 travelling alone must have a letter signed by a parent or a guardian giving explicit authorisation to travel alone, also they must provide a photocopy of their parent's/guardian's ID. Group Booking Policy: Maximum 4 persons per group. If your group is larger than this, please contact us first to discuss availability. Unfortunately we do not cater for stag and hen parties.

We are only 15 minutes' walk to Edinburgh Castle and Holyrood Palace/Park is our neighbours (2 minutes) and extended back garden. We are situated in the artistic area of Holyrood, in the south-east part of the city centre. Nearby is Holyrood Palace/Park & Arthurs Seat and 4 cinemas, 3 theatres, a concert hall, a wide selection of restaurants, bars, coffee houses – and a co-operative Sainsbury’s super market in Meadowbank Shopping Park with Sainsbury’s super market that opens till 10pm for your essential supplies. The Royal Mile Apartment is 400 meters further around to the left of the Palace - walk past the Palace – under the first railway bridge and keep walking around under the second railway bridge and Milton Street is on the right. Look for the blue Christmas Lights In the Second Floor Windows. Apartment 17 & 2f2 Buzzer is painted purple. From Edinburgh Bus Station [Taxi] : Cost around £7. (10 minutes). [Bus] : Cost £1.50 single. £3.50 day ticket. (15 minutes). From the coach station, ask for directions for the Scott Monument on Princes Street, which is a 5-minute walk. At the opposite side from the Scott Monument outside Marks & Spencer Shop, look for the east-bound bus stop for 4,15, N26, N44, Ask the driver if bus goes along London Road and to let you off at the bus stop “Carlyle Place” before Meadowbank Shopping Park. At Meadowbank, ask for Milton Street behind Holyrood Palace. The Royal Mile Apartment is 200 meters down the street Abbey Lane from London Road - walk past the motorbike shop on the left down to then end of the street, take a left onto Spring Gardens and then a right into Milton Street. Look for the blue Christmas Lights in our front second floor windows. From Waverley Train Station [Taxi] : Cost around £7. (10 minutes). [Bus] : Cost £1.50 single. £3.50 day ticket. (15 minutes). From Waverley Train Station, ask for directions for the Scott Monument on Princes Street, which is a 5-minute walk. At the opposite side from the Scott Monument outside Marks & Spencer Shop, look for the west-bound bus stop for 4,15, N26, N44. Ask the driver to let you off at Carlyle Place at Abbeyhill before Meadowbank Shop Park along London Road. At Meadowbank, ask for Milton Street behind Holyrood Palace. Get off at Princes Street; then take an east-bound Bus 4,15, N26, and N44 along London Road to Meadowbank Shopping Park (10 minutes, £1.50). [Airlink 100 Bus] : Cost £4 single, £7 Return. (50 minutes: 30 min. bus time + taxi, bus or walk). Ask the driver to let you off at the Waverley Railway Station, then walk up the road and walk to Princes Street, where you can: • Take a taxi from outside Waverley Railway Station to the Apartment (5 minutes, £5); or • Take a Bus 4,15, N26, N44 along London Road to Meadowbank Shopping Park (10 minutes, £1.50); or • Walk to the Apartment (15 minutes). At Holyrood Palace, ask for Milton Street. The Royal Mile Apartment is 400 meters further around to the left of the Palace - walk past the Palace along Abbehill – under the first railway bridge and keep walking around Abbeyhill under the second railway bridge and Milton Street is on the right.
