Rydges Lakeside Canberra first opened its doors to the community in November 1972 as Noahs, the leading hotel in the Canberra Region. From then the hotel was renamed as the Lakeside Hotel in 1994. During this time the Lakeside Hotel hosted many famous political events such as the 36th Biennial National Conference of the Australian Labor Party in 1984 where Bob Hawke attended as the Prime Minister of Australia. More recently we hosted the Liberal Party of Australia’s 54th Federal Council in June 2010 which saw the opposition party leaders gather for their annual council forum. Over time the Lakeside Hotel paved the footpath to what would be a long standing political reputation within the Canberra Region. In 1998 The Lakeside Hotel was bought by the Rydges Hotels and Resorts Group. The Rydges Group comprises a range of mid to upscale quality hotels with well appointed guest rooms, catering for the needs of the busy corporate traveler in its city locations. Being branded as part of the Rydges group has allowed Rydges Lakeside to be better known across Australia and position itself as Canberra’s leading hotel and function venues in the region.
