“Louis was suffering from a chesty cough and congestion that would come on at night and if he was really puffed. Initially we thought it was asthma and worked with the doctors on treating this, which didn't help. After months of changing his diet, different vitamins and antibiotics the cough and congestion still lingered. With Salt therapy within two weeks the congestion and cough had cleared. Since undertaking salt therapy Louis has experienced two colds, however they have remained just that and he has not had the barking cough and congestion that he had previously. As an added bonus, no more eczema! We are very happy with the results that we have had with Salt Therapy and feel that we have a plan in place that works for Louis and works for us.” - Samara Holmes (Child Management Plan) Read more of our success stories here:

My grandma always said the more time you spend outside in the winter the healthier you are. Grounding your feet to the earth during winter, long walks and naps outside. Not to mention limiting the heating and keeping windows open, are all old remedies that can help us stay healthy over winter. Oh and salt therapy too!

Did you know that salt therapy dates back to medieval times? Medieval monks would take the sick down into salt caves so that they could breath in the healing salt particles. In 1843 Polish doctor, Felix Boczkowski, wrote a book about the benefits of salt therapy. Dr Boczkowski, a physician at the Wieliczka salt mine, observed that the miners did not seem to suffer from the same respiratory conditions as the general population and were in good health despite their arduous work. He noted that the presence of dry salt particles in the salt mine had a healing effect on those with respiratory and pulmonary discomforts. In Germany during World War II, salt mines were commonly used as a protection against heavy bombing. it was noticed that people with respiratory conditions who sought shelter in these mines reported improvements in their breathing and overall health. Since then relieving asthma symptoms and other respiratory conditions with inhaled salt has been a common practice in eastern Europe and Russia. Salt therapy rooms are a modern way to mimic the conditions of salt caves. Make a booking today and discover the wonders of salt therapy for yourself.

Big thank you to Julia O'Brien from Mummy's Aid this afternoon. We learnt about a child's respiratory system and how it's different to an adults. About burns and choking and what to do with a raised temperature and so much more. So much to take in. If you'd like to do a baby/toddler first aid course go onto her website for her dates or contact Julia for a group booking. I highly recommend her course to stop the panic when something happens. It's very different to an adult first aid you may have done at work.

Up to 60% of Australians are deficient in magnesium, a mineral that is essential for so many different metabolic pathways and bodily functions that it should really be a public health priority: magnesium deficiency is associated with preterm labour, asthma, respiratory conditions, high blood pressure, muscle cramps, anxiety, constipation, diabetes, osteoporosis, and countless other common health issues. Women in Germany are routinely prescribed magnesium during pregnancy as it has been shown to reduce the risk of a premature birth. Through such a simple intervention as maintaining good magnesium levels during pregnancy, babies are born at the right time which sets them up for a healthy start in life. Premature birth affects a child’s health for a life-time – increasing health risks even as a mature adult. People born prematurely, for example, have higher blood pressure, a higher risk of heart disease, skin conditions, diabetes, and respiratory problems as adults. You can easily meet your daily requirements of magnesium through your diet by eating plenty of nuts, seeds, green leafy vegetables and legumes, such as lentils and beans. And by spraying magnesium oil on to your skin nightly and or soaking in a magnesium and sea salt bath. Ask us how to get started using this brilliantly easy product along side your salt therapy to help with your asthma or skin conditions.

We have had dinner and baths and in their pajarma's and we were on our way to our twice weekly salt session and William said this. So I asked if he'd say it again on camera. I'm not paying him I promise hahaha! My boys just know it makes them breathe, sleep and feel better! Bless Edward he went on a bit, then when we walked in the door he said to a lady walking out "this helps me!" So cute my little salty kids 👏🏻 Hannah x

"Towards the end of September 2015 I became very ill with pneumonia. So severe was the bacterial infection, that I ended up being admitted to the intensive care unit at the Alfred Hospital for several days. When looking to recover from this medical ordeal we found salt therapy! As a keen cyclist, the therapy allowed me to get back to my previous form much quicker than I expected. By the end of 2015 I was able to cycle through the Victorian Alpine region with no feeling of shortness of breath. Recently I was struck with the unfortunate condition of shingles. I feared the worse for I had never experienced this ailment before. However, salt therapy again proved to be very helpful in relieving this painful ailment. I was not only getting the salt in my lungs but also on my skin. Importantly I could relax during the sessions. As a yoga instructor I think that relaxation is essential for any form of healing to occur. Furthermore, it was also the caring attitude and friendly approach of the staff at SOTE that also helped me in the recovery from shingles. I would recommend salt therapy to anyone who is looking for a natural therapy to support their healing or boost their immune system." - Juan Sanz (Ongoing Management Plan)
