THE SAROYAN BALLET COMPANY IS AN ALL-MALE BALLET COMPANY

Description

The newly-forming Saroyan Ballet Company differs from other existing professional dance companies in two ways. First, SBC is an all-male ballet company which accepts with open arms, not only young talent, but also male dancers who would otherwise be considered "too old" to dance professionally. In essence, dancers who are over twenty-five years of age and beyond are welcome to audition. Our view on this matter is "if you can still dance it beautifully, you can do it at SBC." Secondly, although the Saroyan Ballet Company repertoire includes ballet works and productions, it does not perform the typical classic ballets which are a permanent fixture in all ballet companies, such as Swan Lake, Don Quixote, Sleeping Beauty, and Cinderella, to name a few. Please do not misunderstand....SBC simply adores those exquisite ballets. However, we feel that enough ballet companies already have the classics in their repertoire, and so we leave these to them. Yet, not performing the classics does not mean that our Company suffers artistically. The Saroyan Ballet Company repertoire includes exciting new ballet productions and a conglomeration of dance works exclusively created and choreographed for SBC. We dare to take chances......we dare to be different.
