I'll have a Storm Trooper playing bass in my coffee please...
Happy Derby Day! Come cheer on your favorite pony at Satellite, and try our Espresso Julep. It's a refreshing blend of espresso, fresh mint, and a hint of vanilla, served over crushed ice. It's a perfect drink for a perfect Saturday.
Come watch some mexican wrestling movies, eat some chips and salsa, and partake of some drink specials. Eugene's Hot Chicken will be here making hot chicken tacos and other dishes.
We're super-excited about Saturn's one year anniversary party tomorrow night with the Old 97s and BJ Barham (of American Aquarium). Please come out and celebrate with us if you can!
If your band would like to be added to the Prince tribute nights (May 13th and 14th), please get in touch with me ASAP as our slots are filling up quickly. You can reach me at: firstname.lastname@example.org. We're really hoping this will be a great way for the Birmingham music community to come together to celebrate one of the most genius music legends of our time. Thank you so much.
In case you were unaware that Steva Casey, Saturn's bar manager, is a complete cocktail making bad-ass, here's yet another awesome article that she's featured in. Check it out if you get a moment.
Tonight come out and see one of our Saturn Rocket Fuel Specialists for a splendidly made, delicious beverage of your choice. We're the only place in town where the bartenders are heads with no physical body and thus can conjure drinks with pure metal energy.

@stumptowncoffee just added a new coffee to the menu, and we have it available for purchase by the bag, or aeropress cup! The Guatemala Candelaria is a direct trade coffee with juicy notes of plum and blood orange, and a chocolatey finish. Come by and try it before it's gone!
It finally feels like spring! What's all that singing you hear? (Hint: it's not the birds...) It's our single origin cold brew, made with Ethiopia Duromina. With notes of candied citrus, honey, and melon, it pairs perfectly with any of @wehavedoughnuts delicious offerings.
It's just a regular old fashioned bar night at Satellite! Speaking of which, we have $4 Old Fashioneds from 4-9pm tonight. Come See Wess and David, they will be slinging all night! Also, they break dance for tips...not very well, but bless their little hearts do they try.
Come join us for a special new series where we combine the ambient living sounds that the Saturn venue makes with relaxing, meditative yoga by instructor Meg Coleman for a singular experience where movement and sound interact in an organic way with the building itself. These classes will be designed to accommodate all skill levels and everyone is welcome. If you have a particular limitation or need (recent surgery or injury, pregnancy, medical condition such as heart problems or seizures) please plan to arrive to class a few minutes early to share this information with the instructor. All participants will be asked to sign a liability form and are responsible for insuring their own safety by respecting their bodies limitations and acting with care. Please bring a yoga mat if you have one and water to stay properly hydrated. For the classes Meg will be teaching in the month of August, Meg will waive the class fee for participants and instead will ask that they make a donation ($10 suggested) to Sweet Om Alabama (http://sweetomalabama.org/) ie: Classes led by Meg Coleman in the month of August will be donation based with all proceeds going directly to Sweet Om Alabama, an organization that "seeks to cultivate the health and well being of Alabamians by mobilizing the community to bring the benefits of yoga to those who lack access". A donation of $10/person is suggested. THE LIVING VENUE (http://www.saturnbirmingham.com/livingvenueproject): The Living Venue Audio Project is a multi-sensory reactive sound medium where various devices installed in the venue (stimulated by sound, light, motion, weather, water flow, street activity, etc.) trigger random ambient sounds, in order to make a sort of symphony of sonic activity. Think Brian Eno’s “Music for Airports” if the airports were actually the ones making the music. The project has been put together with Brian Teasley, sound engineer Daniel Farris, and the Austin, Texas band The Octopus Project. Our goal is to eventually record sections of these random sound symphonies and become the first music venue to put out its own record. Check out what auditory reactions the club is making anytime, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Thank you for participating. MEG COLEMAN: "Meg Coleman received her 200hr. teaching certification from Yoga Arts in Byron Bay, Australia in 2003. For the past 12 years she has been leading various yoga classes and teaching private lessons in Birmingham, AL while continuing to deepen her yoga experience through workshops with such yoga greats as Rolf Gates, Tias Little, Rodney Yee and Brian Kest. Her style is a Vinyasa-flow that emphasizes self-empowerment and self-love through mindful movement and breath."
Today on Satellite TV: Anthony shows you how makes your drink look so pretty. Think this is just a bunch of camera tricks? Think we're pulling your leg? Come by for your Friday afternoon coffee, and put his skills to the test.
Check out this utterly insane instrument, The Reactable, that will be at Saturn tonight for Vintage Video Game Night.
At Satellite, we think we make a "damn fine cup of coffee." We hope you agree. Thanks to Virginia Newcomb and Michael Greene for once again agreeing to be professionally silly with us.
Watch this how to brew Espresso Stumptown video!
Like your caffeine in a can, with bubbles, organic? Come try Hi-Ball energy drinks and energy water. We also just got a selection of their brand new Italian sodas Alta-Palla.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend. Come say hello to our awesome new Barrista, Payton. This is her first week and it already feels like she's part of the Saturn / Satellite street gang. Grab a coffee and donut and make Payton welcome if you get a chance. Thanks so much! #spaceistheplace #saturnbham #stumptowncoffee #stumptown #satellitebham #bham
