Law is recognised as one of the most rewarding and useful degrees to have. Studying law with us will be stimulating, as all our programmes engage with contemporary issues in life and society. They will also provide you with a wide range of academic, practical and transferable skills. Our lecturers are highly qualified and provide a perfect mix of research-informed and practice-based teaching. Many lecturers are both legal academics and qualified solicitors or barristers. We offer high levels of teaching and contact and are proud of our excellent student satisfaction rating (94%) – higher than most other law schools in the country. Plymouth Law School is small enough to provide a friendly, student-centred service but large enough to enjoy close links with many employers and agencies in the South West. Consequently we are able to provide opportunities for students to engage with practice through work-based learning and volunteering through our Law Clinic. Staff are also available to discuss opportunities for doctoral research in various areas. Our focus is on providing you with a wide range of legal and professional skills to gain employment in your chosen career. This will allow you not only to become a solicitor or barrister but also to enter numerous other professions. For instance, many of our students have gone on to become journalists, politicians, senior managers and business entrepreneurs. Employers are aware that our students have the skills they want, such as public speaking, problem-solving, critical thinking, researching, and offering practical advice. Over 90% of our students go into work or further study 6 months post graduation. Our key objective as a Law School is to provide all of our students with an excellent learning experience - in the 2013 National Student Survey we obtained an overall student satisfaction rating of 94%. Our mission is to be engaged with the real world of law and criminal justice and for our students to be engaged with the legal and criminal justice professions. If you study with us your education will be academically challenging and highly relevant to employment after you finish your course.
