Inside Law (Commercial): Monday 2 March 2015; from 4.30pm; the Liberty Building, LG06. Spaces are limited. Please sign up via the VLE (Law organisation - PD and Careers - Events, talks and workshops). The aim of the event is to provide you with more information on what it is like to work as a solicitor within commercial law. There will be a panel of 5-6 speakers who will talk about what it is like to work in commercial law and also specifically in the areas of commercial law they practise. They will also talk about their career journey and what you need to do when to be successful in the recruitment process. We are planning to invite speakers from different types of firms (national, regional, local and niche). The presentations will be followed by a Q&A session, and a networking buffet afterwards will give you an opportunity to talk to the speakers one-to-one.

Career advice appointments with Claris D'Cruz: Monday 16 February at 11.30am, 12pm (noon) and 12.30pm. Claris is currently working as a charity lawyer and also as a lecturer at the School of Law. She originally trained and practised as a barrister before moving on to work in-house and then for the government. She can provide advice on what it is like working in different parts of the legal system, on making career choices or choosing an area of law you want to practise in.
