Description

Art was born in Havana, Cuba. At the very young age of 4, he started practicing Kodokan Judo in “La Ciudad Deportiva” where he achieved a green belt in a short period of time. In 1980 he migrated to the United States with his family. His passion for competition and fitness led him to continue his study of martial arts. This time he enrolled in Okinawan Goju Ryu Karate Do under Renshi Bob Budihas in which he excelled quickly to become a first degree black belt and earned a rank of assistant instructor. This was Art’s first taste of teaching which he grew to have a passion for. With great discipline and motivation he continued his training for approximately 9 years during which time he won or placed in numerous martial arts competitions, earning him a rank for point-fighting and katas under the Florida Black Belt Association (FBBA). Art was also attracted to other contact sports. Football being one of them. He played middle JV linebacker for Jackson Senior High School. He had 30 tackles, 3 fumble recoveries and one interception. Unfortunately his blossoming football career ended due to a rotary cuff injury. That did not stop Art. He continued his quest for physical and spiritual excellence through rehab and intense workout sessions in which he rehabilitated his rotary cuff. Since then, he has continued with much success by bringing his own training style and philosophy to his clients. His areas of expertise range from specialized sports training, pre and post natal fitness, professional dancers, professional fighters, nutritional counseling and postural corrections. Art aims to bring health and wellness to those seeking to reach their ultimate fitness levels. Art believes that everyone has the potential to reach their maximum fitness goals and derives a deep satisfaction from providing the motivation, tools and techniques for his clients to get there.
