Description

Seacoast Food Swap is a monthly-ish food swap event in which you bring your edible creations to swap with other food makers. Canned, grown, dried, fermented, baked, foraged, brewed, and cooked. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q; What is a food swap? A food swap is a gathering of food lovers to exchange homemade creations. No cash is exchanged, and no goods are sold. In a silent auction format, homemade goodies change hands and everyone goes home inspired and happy. Q: What should I expect the day of the swap? A swap typically lasts about two hours. The first half hour of the swap is for attendees to sign in, fill out a waiver form, and mingle. Swappers fill out name tags and swap sheets and set up their wares on the tables. The next hour is for everyone to walk around, examine and sample the items others have brought in. Swappers write their names and items they brought on the sheets for any items they would like to take home. The last half hour is for swapping! Everyone returns to their original sheets of paper, looks at the offers, and swaps. Q: Who can participate? Everyone is welcome, as long as you bring something YOU made, grew, or foraged yourself. You must pre-register online to attend so we have a sense of how large our swap will be. Q: What Should I Bring? Home-canned vegetables and fruits; lacto fermented vegetables, fruits, and salsas; vinegar pickles; kombucha, kefir, ginger ale; homemade jams, jellies, and chutneys; homemade cheeses; yogurt; homegrown honey; home brewed beer, wine, ginger beer, root beer; homemade liquers; homemade breads (yeasted or quick); your own creations in spice/seasoning mixes; homemade fresh (or dry) pasta; homemade dough (e.g. phyllo, puff pastry); starters/SCOBYs/grains; homegrown herbs, fruits, vegetables; foraged foods; backyard eggs; handmade sausages, bacon, and other charcuterie; homemade soups and chilis; homemade spreads, tapenades, and pestos; homemade dried fruit; homemade granola; homemade cakes, cookies, and candy. Really, anything you've made from scratch to share. Q: How much does it cost? For the time being, we've decided to forego any registration fees and instead accept donations only. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Other questions and/or suggestions or want to volunteer? Feel free to email me.
