The citizens of Seattle and of Beer Sheva recognize they share many common values, interests, and characteristics. There is a strong desire to learn more about the people of their sister city through educational, cultural, sports, trade, and technical and governmental exchanges. The relationship was formalized in 1977. In honor of the friendship between Seattle and Be'er Sheva, each city designated a park named for its sister city in 1978.
