Fast. Direct. Historic. The Seattle Center Monorail is an icon of Seattle - it was built in 1962 for the World's Fair in Seattle. We carry 2 million passengers per year. There are two monorail trains: red train and blue train. Each train can carry up to 200 passengers per train. The train departs approximately every 10 minutes. The Seattle Center Monorail is the nation's first full-scale commercial monorail system which provides a fun, quick and convenient link from downtown Seattle to Seattle Center. The Seattle Center Monorail departs every 10 minutes from two stations: - Seattle Center Station (across from the Space Needle) - Westlake Center Mall Station (at 5th and Pine) Each trip takes two minutes to travel the 1 mile route and provides riders with an excellent overhead view of the city!

Today's #MonorailMust is going on a Locks Tour with Argosy Cruises! The 2.5 hour tour travels between Elliott Bay and Lake Union through the Chittenden Locks - it's fantastic! Currently, on weekends, tours leave at 11:30am and 3pm and on weekdays, tours leave at 11:30am.

Dear Monorail, one of the reasons I love you is the retro blue & red trains. I am local & use the trains to commute to work. I was very sadden to see this late afternoon, that the trains now have Alaska Airlines advertisement on the outer exterior, thus killing the beautiful retro design. Please tell me this is not permanent because it is very ugly. :(

I spy... Smith Tower! Smith Tower is located in Pioneer Square - it is the oldest skyscraper in Seattle and was the tallest office building on the West Coast until the Space Needle overtook it in 1962. #FunFact

Wow! We saw Amazon's Biospheres being constructed downtown - they're quite a sight to see! The largest of the three spheres will be 95 feet tall and 130 feet in diameter.
