In the 1920s, in Georgetown, a suburb of Seattle on Airport Way, Sam Catania founded Catania & Sons. Catania & Sons manufactured refrigerated showcases for the grocery and meat market industry, as well as fixtures for restaurants and bars. In the 1930s, T.C. Catania, Sam’s eldest son, spun off and formed Tavern Supply Company. During the War years and through the 1950s, Tavern Supply Company, located at 5th Avenue in Seattle, manufactured bar and restaurant fixtures and distributed equipment and supplies to brewers, restaurants and clubs. In 1960, Tavern Supply Company moved from 5th Avenue to Eastlake and formed a division called Bar Mart. The 1970's and 1980's found more changes in the industry. And our company began to focus more on commercial kitchens and related products. Early in the 1990’s, Anthony S. Catania and Jerry Mastro purchased the remaining equity from T.C. Catania and immediately changes started to occur; most obvious was the change in name to “The Seattle Restaurant Store.” The Seattle Restaurant Store soon became a member of PRIDE Marketing & Procurement, the most prestigious buying group in the Food and Beverage industry. In the summer of 1999, the Seattle Restaurant Store moved to its new 20,000+ square foot facility at 14910 Aurora Avenue North in Shoreline. Last year the Catania family passed the torch on to the Green family. With an extensive background in sales and service, William M. Green brought in new products and services to redefine The Seattle Restaurant Store and usher in a new era. The Seattle Restaurant Store’s customer base today is as diverse as ever. Recently we have sent supplies to the U.S.S. Carl Vincent while cruising Foreign waters. We have sent equipment to a castle in Ireland. We supplied a Mission kitchen in South Africa. We outfitted a Seattle kitchen for a member of a Royal Family. However… You do not have to be the Captain of an Aircraft Carrier, own a castle or become a Prince to buy from the Seattle Restaurant Store. We cater to Restaurants, Culinary Students, Day Care facilities, Churches, the Military, Educational Facilities and, of course, the general public is always welcome.
