Second Harvest Food Bank is a 501(C)3 non-profit non-denominational organization. The Food Bank is one of over 200 food banks affiliated with Feeding America, The National Food Bank Network. Feeding America offers training and technical assistance for food banks and solicits donations of food at the corporate level for nationwide distribution to member food banks. Feeding America also develops and implements the standards of operation of member food banks, and monitors all operations regularly.

Second Harvest Food Bank is the primary source of food for over 400 non-profit agencies. Each month over 1,900,000 pounds of food is distributed to emergency food pantries, homeless shelters, soup kitchens, day care centers, halfway houses, senior food programs, residential treatment centers, shelters for the abused, and group homes.
