Description

Shiva Piano Studio, located in the City of Port Coquitlam, offers one-on-one piano lessons as well as group and/or individual lessons in theory and history of western music to students of all levels from beginner to advanced and to students age 5 and beyond. Lessons are offered in 30, 45 and 60 minute segments depending on the age and level of students. While the studio adopts a default classical approach to all lessons, and, therefore, uses the RCM (Royal Conservatory of Music) curriculum as a preferred program of study, customized lessons that would accommodate a variety of interests and styles will be provided to the students upon requests. Students choosing the Royal Conservatory route are encouraged to take examinations upon completion of levels to formalize their achievements and to gauge their progress. Students studying at the studio receive numerous opportunities to perform throughout the year: Students will get to perform in at least two studio recitals taking place one in winter and one in late spring. Other performance opportunities include various BCRMTA (BC Registered Music Teachers' Association) recitals, Vancouver Kiwanis Music Festival, North Fraser Music Festival, BC Piano Competition & other local competitions/festivals in and around the Lower Mainland. Shiva Piano Studio was founded in 2007 by the piano performer and teacher, Shiva Rahimi, in Calgary, Alberta. Originally launched as a small piano studio with only a handful of students, Shiva Piano Studio quickly grew in size to become one of the most popular music studios in North West Calgary mainly because of Shiva's direction, passion, and dedication to training outstanding performers and musicians. Prior to establishing her own independent piano studio, Shiva worked as a music instructor for various private schools and music studios in the Metro Vancouver area including Mozart School of Music in Burnaby, BC, where she taught piano and theory to students of all levels and ages from 2001-2005. As a teacher, Shiva has helped countless students achieve their musical goals for the past 20 years, the last 15 years of which has been in Canada. Her students have been frequent winners of provincial/local music festivals/competitions and have achieved top or near perfect scores in their RCM examinations. Many of them have even gone on to become professional musicians, teachers, and performers themselves. Shiva brings a wealth of knowledge, passion, and experience into her lessons. She is a member of both BCRMTA (BC Registered Music Teachers' Association) and CFMTA (Canadian Federation of Music Teachers' Association) and an RCM Certified Advanced Piano Specialist. Her credentials include an ARCT Diploma in Piano Performance from the Royal Conservatory of Toronto and a Diploma in Music from Mount Royal College in BC. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Education from the University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada.
