SightLife Surgical challenges the status quo of the cornea ecosystem by driving systemic change needed to eliminate corneal blindness worldwide by 2040.
SightLife Surgical is a cornea-focused organization providing comprehensive services that support ophthalmic surgeons, from corneal tissue and devices to advocacy for better patient access to corneal treatments. Based in Seattle, SightLife Surgical was founded in September 2016 to challenge the status quo of the cornea ecosystem by driving systemic change needed to enable greater innovation and access to treatments for corneal blindness. The organization has three main objectives: 1. Transform the cornea ecosystem with new products and services for surgeons and their patients. 2. Fix payment paradigms to ensure adequate reimbursement for surgeons and patient access to care. 3. Focus on treatment and prevention around the globe. SightLife Surgical is a for-profit subsidiary of SightLife, the only non-profit global health organization working relentlessly to eliminate corneal blindness worldwide by 2040. This unique, mission-driven structure maintains the non-profit status of SightLife as the parent organization and adds a for-profit “engine” to power and accelerate the mission. SightLife and its global partners provided nearly 24,600 corneas for sight-restoring transplants in 2015. For more information on the parent organization, SightLife, visit www.sightlife.org.
